Andretti: "Probeer wiel niet opnieuw uit te vinden"

Oud-coureur Mario Andretti heeft de Formule 1 gewaarschuwd om de geplande revolutie voor 2017 niet te overdrijven. Het gevaar bestaat dat de sport dan zijn doel voorbij schiet. De teams werken samen met de commerciële rechtenhouder en de internationale autosportbond FIA aan regels voor snellere en agressiever ogende bolides in de Formule 1 vanaf 2017.

Andretti predikt voorzichtigheid. "De Formule 1 is nog steeds een geweldig product", vertelde hij aan Auto Motor und Sport. "De sport behoudt zijn integriteit door de technologie. Dat is het handelsmerk van de Formule 1. Dat is waarom de fans van de Formule 1 houden. Autosport is over het algemeen duur en de Formule 1 is ook wat dat betreft de overtreffende trap, dus eens in de zoveel tijd moeten ze zich aanpassen."

"Maar ik zeg met nadruk aanpassen, ze moeten niet veranderen om het veranderen. Geen enkele raceklasse is perfect. Er is geen magische sleutel, probeer nou niet om het wiel opnieuw uit te vinden. Dat zou het slechtste zijn dat de Formule 1 kan doen. Dat is precies de fout die de IndyCar heeft gemaakt. Ze hebben hun wortels verloochend en dingen geïntroduceerd die niet bij de serie passen."

"Die fout moet de Formule 1 niet begaan. Mensen klagen over de dominantie van Mercedes, maar volgens mij creëert het juist geweldige verhalen. Iedereen is benieuwd naar de ontwikkeling van Ferrari en of ze een echte aanval op de positie van Mercedes kunnen doen. De Grands Prix van Hongarije en Singapore bewezen dat Mercedes zich geen misstappen kan veroorloven. Als fan hou ik daar van."

Ik wil niet veel echt inhaalmanoeuvres zien, ik wil echte inhaalmanoeuvres zien!

Echte spanning en op het puntje van de bank zitten dat de band of motor het begeeft terwijl je vooraan rijdt, of juist de tegenstanders. Ik wil de sport voelen, de emotie, dat is wat weg is.

  precies! Ik zie veel liever een gevecht van 10 ronden lang waar dan wel of geen inhaalmanoevre uit voortkomt, maar waar het er wel steeds aan zit tekomen, dan elke ronde een DRS overtake

Ik vind dat Andretti de huidige ontevredenheid en het slechte vaarwater vd F1 erg bagatelliseert.

  Ik denk dat een icoon als Mario Andretti het hier geweldig goed verwoord wat er daadwerkelijk aan de hand is. Vind dat deze man altijd goede dingen zegt, en mijn zijn ervaring, charisma en kennis mag hij dat zeggen.

  Ik ben het ook helemaal eens met hem. Er moeten gewoon wat dingen aangepast worden zoals testen en de mogelijkheid om te verbeteren tijdens het seizoen maar de huidige formule is F1 waardig en beter dan de vorige(V8).

  ik zie het als een positieve ontwikkeling dat de f1 eens naar de geluiden van het publiek luistert, op dit punt is er vooruitgang geboekt want dat is nooit zo geweest.
  Wellicht doet dhr Andretti er verstandig aan die fan enquete een aandachtig door te lezen dan krijgt hij een duidelijk beeld van wat fans willen, dat is dus niet ENKEL technologie maar ook beleving, de F1 dient een compromis te vinden tussen deze zaken

Die 'technologie' waar hij het over heeft, is ook de reden dat ik de F1 volg, maar volgens mij is dat allang niet meer "het grote publiek" wat de F1 volgt.
Als het aan Bernie ligt sowieso niet, want die heeft SkysportsF1 al eens verweten TE veel (technische en achtergrond) informatie te geven. Dat moet volgens hem veel simpeler, want volgens Bernie willen wij dat niet weten.

Maar goed, dominantie is niet erg, zolang de andere maar de mogelijkheid krijgen de achterstand in te lopen en dat is door diverse regels niet meer mogelijk en daardoor gaat de sport kapot.

Amen! Ja het is zeker jammer van het geluid vind ik maar ik zie ondanks dat ik groot Schumacher fan ben betere races over het algemeen
