Video: Gebroken heup voor teamgenoot van Frijns

Robin Frijns moet het bij de seizoensfinale van de Blancpain Series komend weekend op Zandvoort stellen zonder teamgenoot Laurens Vanthoor. De Belg vloog gisteren in Misano van de baan na contact met een andere deelnemer en belandde hard in de vangrails. Onderzoek heeft uitgewezen dat Vanthoor daarbij een dubbele heupbreuk en een beenbreuk op heeft gelopen. Daardoor mist hij de afsluitende race op Zandvoort.

Mooie reactie van Frijns zelf: I'm gutted that my best mate @VanthoorLaurens can't drive in Zandvoort He learned me to drive the Audi. We won together and we lost together. Whatever happens. He deserves those @BlancpainGT championships! #Audi #Teacher

    Vanthoor is een geweldig coureur, maar daar ging hij toch niet helemaal vrijuit. Jammer, ze hadden gewoon kampioen kunnen worden met z'n tweeën. Nu moet Frijns het met een ander doen en hopen het kampioenschap nog veilig te stellen.

      Yep, heb de indruk dat hij het verliest op het moment dat hij met zijn achterwiel het gras raakt en dan naar buiten geduwd wordt door torque steer. Kleine fout met grote gevolgen.

    In eerste instantie was er nog sprake van een verstuikte voet. Dat leek me al een beetje weinig schade gezien de klap. Dit is wel een domper. Max Koebolt misschien als vervanger?

    Had het hier zaterdag al geplaatst, echt een enorme klapper en je zag meteen dat Vanthoor een aardige kwetsuur had opgelopen. Vervelend voor Laurens. Zondag is de finale in Zandvoort en dan moet Frijns het klusje klaren met hopelijk een goede stant in voor Vanthoor. Voordeeltje voor Frijns is dat hij nu de rijderstitel in zijn eentje kan opstrijken, gezien ze tot Misano gedeelt aan de leiding gingen. Zou toch wat zijn, wederom een rijderstitel in een eerste seizoen.

    Van der Garde maar vragen als stand-in.. of jeroen bleekemolen... voor Frijns wel een voordeel om in Zandvoort te rijden.

      Word waarschijnlijk een van de '3e' rijders van Audi Belgium. Jean-Karl Vernay. Evenals Vanthoor een uitstekend coureur. Kampioen in Indy Lights. Jammer dat zijn carriere net zoals Frijns en Vanthoor niet die boost heeft gehad om in de hogere klassen te rijden. Vernay had serieus toekomst, niet alleen in VS maar ook zeker in Europa.

    Zonde, jammer, gelukkig kan het lichaam dit herstellen.
    Sterkte Laurens.

    En ik hoop ook dat er een goede andere coureur gevonden wordt.
    Het kampioenschap halen zou Frijns verdienen. En hem ook weer een goede boost geven.
