Force India stelt zich opjagen Williams ten doel

Het team van Force India heeft het vizier voor de rest van dit seizoen gericht op het team van Williams. Bij de Indiase renstal leeft de overtuiging dat de B-versie van de VJM08 op termijn niets onder hoeft te doen voor de auto van Williams. Qua punten is het gat te groot om nog te overbruggen, maar op de baan kan Force India nog wel de aansluiting vinden.

Dat denkt vice-teambaas Bob Fernley in elk geval. "Sinds Silverstone tonen we min of meer op vaste basis aan dat we over een top tien-auto beschikken. Afgezien van onze uitvalbeurten in Hongarije hebben we een constant en hoog vormpeil tentoon gespreid, dus ik ben ervan overtuigd dat de snelheid er is."

"De snelheid is alleen nog niet van het niveau dat we nastreven. Het voornaamste doel is om nog wat op te schuiven in de pikorde, in de richting van Williams. Zij rijden met dezelfde motoren als wij en het moet mogelijk zijn om hun tempo te benaderen. Lotus is overigens ook verdomde snel. De drie klantenteams van Mercedes leveren puik werk."
