Ecclestone: "Nog dit jaar nieuwe eigenaar voor F1"

CVC Capital verkoopt haar 35,5 procent van de aandelen in de Formule 1 waarschijnlijk nog dit jaar door aan een andere partij. Dat verklaarde Bernie Ecclestone als spreker bij het Camp Beckenbauer sports business forum. Een consortium bestaande uit Qatari Sports Investment en RSE Ventures zou de belangrijkste gegadigde zijn om de aandelen over te nemen.

Het kan snel gaan, mogelijk nog voor het einde van dit jaar krijgt de Formule 1 een eigenaar, zo is de verwachting bij Ecclestone. "Onze aandeelhouders bevinden zich in de positie dat ze op korte termijn een deel van of al hun aandelen kwijt zullen raken. Er is veel belangstelling, er zijn drie partijen die interesse hebben getoond. Het zou me verbazen als een van hen zich niet op korte termijn inkoopt. Dat kan dit jaar nog zijn."

In juli verklapte Ecclestone aan Motorsport.com al dat CVC onder druk stond om de boel te verkopen. "Het is zoals met alle investeringsmaatschappijen. Ze investeren het geld van anderen en het maakt niet uit hoe goed ze het doen, op een gegeven moment willen die mensen hun geld terug. Misschien vinden ze nieuwe investeerders, ik weet het niet. Ze zijn al voorbij hun verkoopdatum, ze hebben het al een paar keer gerekt."

  Betwijfel het eerlijk gezegd.
  
  Ik ben niet bepaald Ecclestone's grootste fan, maar krijg het gevoel dat hij in de huidige politieke structuur van de F1 de enige is die nog *iets* gedaan krijgt. Van de Strategy Group moet je het iig niet hebben op dat gebied, en de FIA lijkt ook niet in staat iets erdoor te drukken.

  Volgens mij is het wel CVC die bepaald wie het hele gebeuren leidt. Las op andere site de percentages van aandelen en daar blijkt uit dat cvc dus 33,5% heeft Bernie 5,3% en zijn familiefonds 8,5%. Dus ik betwijfel als puntje bij paaltje komt of Bernie het wel eigenlijk voor het zeggen heeft.
  
  CVC is gewoon een investeringsfonds die slim belegt en dan probeert winst te maken dus die hebben geen belang om de F1 te runnen. Maar dat wil niet zeggen dat degenen die dus nu het willen overnemen dat niet willen. Wat voor nut heeft het dan om het belang over te nemen als je er niet op uit bent om dingen te veranderen en laten we wel eerlijk wezen het wordt toch tijd dat er een nieuw iemand komt die de komende jaren gewoon eens de bezem er door heen kan halen en kan veranderen wat veranderd moet worden.

  Het het Duitse forum waar dit ook geplaatst is, geeft aan dat hij zal aanblijven als commerciële chef. Waarschijnlijk zal hij ook zijn eigen 5% aandelen verkopen

  Die gedachte had ik ook meteen. Eerst waren de geruchten nog dat Bernie zelf het circus zou opkopen nu dat de waarde is gezakt. Wellicht willen ze het circus verkopen omdat Redbull er toch wel uit gaat.
