Pirelli, FIA evalueren opties voor schone circuits

Bandenleverancier Pirelli en internationale autosportbond FIA voeren overleg over hoe ze een zo schoon mogelijk wegdek bij de Formule 1-races kunnen garanderen. Door rotzooi op de baan explodeerden in België nog twee banden (althans, dat is de lezing van Pirelli). Sindsdien bestudeert men de opties om de circuits te vrijwaren van troep.

Pirelli-motorsportbaas Paul Hembery: "Het is niet aan ons om dat proces te definiëren. Maar gezien de discussies die we met de FIA gevoerd hebben leeft het besef dat we misschien een systeem in het leven moeten roepen om de baan schoon te vegen, zeker na ongelukken. Dat kan gaan om een bepaald middel voor een standaard schoonmaak-procedure voor over de hele wereld. Daar kijken we naar en ik ben hoopvol dat het zover komt."

In Amerika heb je bijvoorbeeld voertuigen met grote blazers om de baan schoon te maken. Hembery: "Dat is precies waar ik aan denk. Wellicht kunnen we er iets aan doen, dat hoeft niet veel te kosten, om een standaard proces te creëren. Een blazer of iets dergelijks om de kleine deeltjes die achter blijven van de baan te blazen. De FIA neemt dit zeer serieus en bestudeert voorstellen en ideeën."

Pirelli heeft ondertussen de minimale bandenspanning voor Rusland bekend gemaakt. Voor de voorbanden bedraagt de minimale bandenspanning 21,5 PSI, voor de achterbanden 20,5 PSI. Dat is hetzelfde als in Suzuka, maar wel hoger dan een jaar geleden, toen het nog 19 PSI voor en 18 PSI achter was.

Dat kan. En dat kunnen ze. Echter wil de FIA dat banden na 20 rondes versleten zijn en daardoor krijg je die marbles. Het is niet zo dat Pirelli dat niet wil of kan, maar de opdrachtgever vraagt en zij draaien.

Iets wat (hier) veelste vaak wordt vergeten.

Gewoon niet meer met auto's over het circuit rijden.
Levensgevaarlijk.

Naar mijn weten was dit in alle voorgaande jaren ook geen punt en nu moeten de circuits in 1 keer brandschoon zijn.

  Misschien een optie om houte wielen te monteren? Dit in combinatie met "horsepower" is erg retro. En ze zeggen toch dat vroeger alles beter was.....
  
  De teams en coureurs zullen het met gemengde gevoelens aanhoren, want zij maken toch graag gebruik van de marbels op de baan als de wedstrijd is afgelopen om iets meer rijhoogte te krijgen. Denk dat Michelin nu weer een handvat heeft gekregen voor toestreding in de F1. Zij pleiten voor geen bandenslijtage.

Pirelli zou ook de troep die van hun eigen banden vliegt wat kunnen beperken.

Ik begrijp die Italianen echt niet meer. 10 jaar geleden reden ze de hele race uit op asfalt zoals in Canada of Hongarije dat na een paar rondes gewoon loskwam en nu is zelf 20 ronden teveel.

Lekker geld uitgeven om een probleem te verhelpen dat eigenlijk niet zou moeten bestaan door simpelweg echte banden te introduceren ipv circusbanden. Gezeik om bedekte cockpits maar als we het om veiligheid mbt de banden hebben (vrij belangerijk) wordt er ineens naar oplossingen gekeken die niet eens nodig zouden moeten zijn.

Komen ze wel een beetje laat mee.
Dit hebben de meeste van ons al een tijdje geleden bedacht heb ik het vermoeden.

Enige probleem is de regen. Als het nl geregend heeft en vlak voor de race gaan die blazers over de baan, is het daardoor een stuk droger en dus minder spectaculair.
