Hülkenberg slaat geen F1-race over voor Le Mans

Force India-coureur Nico Hülkenberg zal volgend seizoen gewoon op de startopstelling staan van de Europese Grand Prix in Azerbeidzjan. Geluiden gingen op dat de Duitser de race in Bakoe over zou slaan om zijn titel in de 24 uur van Le Mans te verdedigen, maar die ontkracht hij zelf in de aanloop naar het weekend in Sotsji. De Formule 1 geniet te allen tijde zijn voorkeur.

Al vindt Hülkenberg het wel behoorlijk jammer dat de 24 uur van Le Mans en de Grand Prix van Europa in 2016 in hetzelfde weekend vallen. "Ik ben toegewijd aan de Formule 1. Dit is mijn voornaamste broodwinning, dit is mijn doel. Ik heb er zelf geen zeggenschap over. We moeten het doen met wat de autoriteiten beslissen en dat hebben we maar te accepteren, ben ik bang."

"Natuurlijk kan Porsche wachten op eventuele veranderingen aan het schema, maar op een gegeven moment moeten ook zij weten waar ze aan toe zijn. De kalender is uit. Het had anders een druk jaar geweest, met 21 Grands Prix, tests en dan twee WEC-races. Ik denk wel dat het haalbaar was en ik had het zeker gedaan als het mogelijk zou zijn geweest."

    Ik vind het jammer dat hij zijn titel niet kan verdedigen. Volwassen reactie naar Porsche toe om nu al te zeggen dat de F1 voorrang heeft. Zo weten alle partijen waar ze aan toe zijn.

    Mocht de Hulk ooit klaar zijn in de F1, dan kan die zo instappen in het WEC waarschijnlijk.

      Laat dat waarschijnlijk maar zitten.
      Hij is kampioen geworden. Dus kan dit jaar en de aankomende jaren direct instappen.

    Zo is het Nico, prima reactie, en er komen nog genoeg jaren om Le Mans te rijden na je F1 carrière.

    Het zal ook wel in zijn contract staan bij FI, dat hij elke GP moet rijden.

    Hij zal best gevloekt hebben toen ie de kalender voor het eerst zag stel ik me zo voor. Ik vind het belachelijk dat ze de races hetzelfde weekend houden. De F1 heeft wat mij betreft toch al een te volle kalender 18 races zou wat mij betreft ook genoeg zijn.
