Ook invulling F1-kalender 2016 wordt donderdag besproken

Als de Formule 1-teams en motorleveranciers donderdag tijdens de FIA vergadering praten over de motorregels voor 2016 zal ook de invulling van de kalender besproken worden. De laatste publicatie van de kalender liet zien dat er een recordaantal van 21 races op het programma staan.

Op de kalender is te zien dat de Grand Prix van Duitsland na een jaar afwezigheid terugkeert en dat Azerbeidzjan onder de naam Grand Prix van Europa haar debuut maakt. Verder zullen alle Grands Prix van dit jaar ook volgend jaar op de kalender staan. Wel zal er wat geschoven worden. De Grand Prix van Rusland zal al in mei verreden worden, terwijl de Grand Prix van Maleisië pas tegen het einde van het jaar verreden zal worden.

Er is echter één probleem. Volgens de reglementen mogen er niet meer dan 20 Grands Prix per jaar worden verreden. Op de huidige publicatie staan echter 21 races op het programma. De teams zullen unaniem akkoord moeten gaan met het voorstel van 21 Grands Prix. De verwachting is dat de teams dit voorstel zullen goedkeuren als dat betekent dat de teams meer inkomsten krijgen.

Waarschijnlijk wordt de definitieve kalender van 2016 pas in december gepresenteerd.
