Montoya vindt idee van gesloten cockpit in F1 en IndyCar helemaal niets

Juan-Pablo Montoya zegt het idee van een gesloten cockpit geen goede te vinden. De Colombiaan vindt dat ‘open-wheel’ klassen ook echt open moeten blijven.

De dodelijke ongevallen van Jules Bianchi in de Formule 1 en Justin Wilson in de IndyCar Series heeft voor veel discussie gezorgd, maar Montoya is niet van mening dat er iets moet veranderen in de autosport. Montoya heeft een geschiedenis in beide raceklassen.

“Als iemand het gevaar niet onder ogen kan komen kan diegene beter stoppen met racen. Het is onderdeel van de sport. Iedereen weet wat de gevaren zijn. Het is onderdeel van het beroep en dat zal altijd zo blijven. Niemand ziet graag iemand gewond raken, maar het hoort er simpelweg gewoon bij”, aldus Montoya.
