Sainz is klaar voor Grand Prix van Amerika

Carlos Sainz Jr. zegt helemaal klaar te zijn om te racen in Austin. De Spanjaard maakte een harde klapper tijdens de derde vrije training in Sochi en moest daardoor de kwalificatie in Rusland aan zich voorbij laten gaan. De race verliep vervolgens heel goed voor Sainz Jr. maar een remprobleem zorgde voor een vroegtijdig einde van zijn race.

Achteraf gaf de teamgenoot van Verstappen aan last te hebben gehad van duizeligheid gedurende het eerste deel van de race. Volgens Sainz Jr. is hij nu weer helemaal fit: “Na de Grand Prix van Rusland ging ik door naar Faenza om wat tijd met het team door te brengen. Ook heb ik wat tijd doorgebracht in de simulator. Daarna ben ik naar mijn familie gegaan. Ik heb veel getraind en ben weer helemaal fit.”

De Formule 1 strijkt komend weekend neer in Austin, een circuit waar Sainz Jr. in tegenstelling tot Verstappen nog niet eerder heeft gereden. “Ik weet niet zoveel over het circuit. Ik ben er nog nooit geweest. Ik heb wel wat tijd in de simulator doorgebracht om het circuit een beetje te leren kennen. De baan ziet er erg uitdagend uit. Ik denk dat ik het daar erg naar mijn zin ga hebben, vooral de eerste sector die er erg snel is. Van andere coureurs heb ik vernomen dat het één van de beste circuits op de kalender is. De hele stad leeft mee deze week. En ik heb te horen gekregen dat er erg goede steakhouses zijn.”

Laten we hopen dat de weersvoorspellingen niet uitkomen, zodat Carlos en Max veel kunnen rijden tijdens de VT en ervaring op kunnen doen.
Hopelijk wordt het een mooie races voor hen zondag
zonder pech en/of uitval!

Dit komt hopelijk niet uit, zag het net staan.

Ik hoop eindelijk weer op een 1 op 1 battle met Max (dus geen straffen, gewoon kwalificatie duel en racen)

  Ik ook VWTUNE. Normale VT zonder hevige buien, zodat ze de auto en banden fatsoenlijk kunnen testen en dan eindelijk een gewone race zonder pech en/of uitval met Max en Carlos.

  Ze moeten gewoon beide geen straf krijgen en in de punten komen. Op zich hoop ik wel dat 1 van de Renault motors een update krijgt alleen maar om te bekijken of de vernieuwde motor beter is.

Het zou leuk zijn als de VTs enigszins droog blijven. Maar een lekkere regenbui op zondag - heel graag! Weinig regen tijdens de races op zondag dit jaar..

Als de vrije trainingen VT1 en 2 droogblijven en een natte VT3, kwalificatie en race, dat zou mooi zijn voor alle twee. Ik kijk al uit naar een regenrace maar ik ben erg benieuws hoe Carlos en vooral Max zich houden. Denkt aan Norisring vorig jaar en droomt even weg ;)
