Tavo Hellmund gelinkt aan investering in Manor

Tavo Hellmund laat zich de laatste tijd veelvuldig zien in de Formule 1-paddock. De Amerikaan was de drijvende kracht achter de totstandkoming van het Circuit of the Americas in Austin, maar ook bij de rentree van de Mexicaanse Grand Prix op de kalender speelde hij een belangrijke rol.

NBC claimt dat Hellmund nu bezig is met een nieuw project. Het zou gaan om een tweede race in de Verenigde Staten. Dat klinkt Bernie Ecclestone vast als muziek in de oren. De commerciële baas van de Formule 1 sprak vorige week nog de wens voor meerdere races in de VS uit.

Hellmund: "We zijn bezig met een nieuwe Amerikaans Formule 1-project waar we hopelijk binnen twee weken meer over kunnen delen. We zijn ook aan het kijken of we eventueel als investeerders in kunnen stappen bij een van de teams."

Die laatste opmerking sluit dan weer aan op het nieuws van The Guardian dat Hellmund zich in wil kopen bij Manor F1 Team. Dat team kan wel wat goed nieuws gebruiken nu John Booth, Graeme Lowdon en Bob Bell hun vertrek hebben aangekondigd.
