Idee voor aparte klantenmotor bevalt Honda niet

Het plan van de internationale autosportbond FIA om een onafhankelijke motorleverancier aparte klantenmotoren te laten leveren in de Formule 1 bevalt Honda geenszins. De federatie dacht aan een goedkope 2.2 liter twin-turbo V6, naast de huidige 1.6 liter V6 turbo.

Een dergelijke tweedeling is volgens Honda niet in het belang van de sport. Motorsportbaas Yasuhisa Arai liet aan Speed Week weten: "Als de FIA een compleet nieuwe motor wil introduceren, dan ontstaat een situatie met twee verschillende motoren in de Formule 1. Dat is moeilijk te accepteren. Het zou de Formule 1 minder interessant en minder opwindend maken."

Over de maximale vraagprijs van 12 miljoen euro voor de aandrijflijn die FIA-voorzitter Jean Todt eerder voorstelde zegt Arai: "Als je een getal noemt, dan moet je ook specificeren wat daaronder valt. Het is complexe materie. We hebben meer informatie over die 12 miljoen nodig. Dekt dat bedrag ook de dienstverlening op de circuits, het onderhoud en andere dingen?"

    We hebben tot de verplichting van de V10 rond 2000 altijd verschillende motoren gehad. Met een uitzondering in 2006 om gelimiteerde V10 te gebruiken i.p.v. V8. De huidige periode is de uitzondering, niet de regel...

      Dr zijn nu al sinds het verbod op de turbo steeds restricties geweest maar het is wel steeds erger geworden met deze huidige regelementen als ultiem dichtgetimmerd in navolging van het v10 en v8 regelement. Als ze het opengooien en alleen een beperking op cilinderinhoud opleggen zal je zien dat het uiteindelijk toch de turbomotoren zijn die de snelste en efficiëntste zijn. Dat hebben we al eerder gezien in de F1 en toont Porsche nu ook wel weer aan in het WEC

    Waarom wordt er toch zo vastgehouden aan 1 motorspec? Er zijn toch ook verschillende chassis, sterker nog er mogen geen twee teams rijden met een identiek chassis. Waarom geen meerdere motorenspecificaties naast elkaar? Is in het verleden ook geweest, waarom nu niet?

    Ik zou zeggen definieer de regels waaraan de motor moet voldoen (bv brandstof limiet) en laat het verder aan de fabrikanten over met welke motor ze dat doen. Juist doordat ze nu zo beperkt zijn in wat ze wel en niet mogen is het erg lastig om innovatief te zijn en op die manier een andere fabrikant te verslaan.

    Ik denk dat het wel slim is om een onafhankelijke leverancier voor motoren te hebben voor de klanten teams, maar die moet aan dezelfde voorwaarden voldoen, dus geen 2 klassementen systeem.

      Eens. Laat de motorkeuze vrij. Voor mijn part gebruikt een team een opgevoerde tractor motor. Als ze er hard mee kunnen en verder binnen de regels blijven, prima. Ik kan me zelfs voorstellen dat je de hoeveelheid PK's limiteert, tot zeg 800 PK. Dan nog zijn er genoeg parameters over om het verschil mee te kunnen maken, zoals verbruik, gewicht, beschikbaarheid van vermogen, afmetingen die vevolgens weer een impact hebben op het chassis, aero, etc.

    Ze moeten niet overstappen naar een ander spec motor. Deze motor is de toekomst. Geluid valt wat aan te doen en om naar de 1000 pk te gaan is ook geen probleem. Andere motor intoduceren zou niet eerlijk zijn t.o.v. de huidige leveranciers. Wel moeten ze ze de leveranciers veplichten om aan klanten te leveren als die bij hun aankloppen. Dat monopolie gedrag dat zij bepalen wie wel en wie wat krijgt moet niet kunnen. Als ze de kapaciteit hebben

      Deze motoren zijn geen toekomst meer, want ze bestaan al, dus dat vind ik een dooddoener.
      Gewoon bepaalde richtlijnen maken en iedere fabrikant zijn eigen draai eraan laten geven.
      Fabrikanten zullen toch proberen snelle en zuinige motoren te bouwen.
      Als je het vrijgeeft kunnen ze zich helemaal uitleven en dan kan er weer een motor voor de toekomst ontstaan en profileert de F1 zich weer als ontwikkelingsklasse voor de straatauto.

    Als Honda daar tegen is, dan is de enige oplossing dat zij naast McLaren ook andere teams van motoren willen voorzien tegen een betaalbare prijs.

    En het kan dan natuurlijk niet zo zijn dat zij selectief zijn in wie zij wel of niet willen leveren.

    Twee of meerdere soorten motoren in de F1 maakt het minder interessant? Honda handelt weer uit eigenbelang... What about the fans? Ik zou het juist interessant vinden. Maar dan moet het geen spec engine zijn.

    Je mag van alles denken over Red Bull. Als concurrent mag je dat team haten. Dit mag echter nooit meer gebeuren. Deze hele motoren saga is net zoiets als de USA GP in 2005. Of de teamorders van Ferrari in 2002. Dit mag absoluut gewoon nooit meer gebeuren. Een complete schande.

    De FIA pakt het dan weer verkeerd aan door het meteen een standaard engine te maken. Laat vanaf 2017 veel meer teams toe bijvoorbeeld. Schroef de eisen omlaag. Wat mij betreft staat de FIA toe dat Cosworth, Ilmor en zo beetje elke motoren leverancier welkom is. Veel beter als de huidige situatie.
