Voorwaarden kleven aan geldigheid veto Ferrari

Een veto van Ferrari is alleen geldig als het eigen belang in het geding is. Dat heeft Jean Todt, voorzitter van de internationale autosportbond FIA, uitgelegd. De Fransman stond zelf ooit aan het roer bij de Scuderia en ging in die hoedanigheid op zoek naar de bepalingen omtrent het vetorecht van Ferrari. De Italiaanse renstal is het enige team met een dergelijk vetorecht.

Todt: "Het vetorecht is ten gunste van Ferrari en is een historisch bepaald vetorecht. Maar ze moeten wel aan kunnen tonen dat een bepaalde maatregel indruist tegen hun belangen. Als ze de suggestie wekken dat de introductie van een onafhankelijke leverancier van een standaard motor voor klantenteams niet in hun belang is, dan wil ik daar graag over debatteren met ze."

"In de onderhandelingen in 2013 toonden Bernie Ecclestone en de overige teams zich voorstander van het in stand houden van het vetorecht voor Ferrari. Het vetorecht stamt uit de jaren tachtig van de vorige eeuw, ten tijde van het ontstaan van de Concorde Agreement. Het is iets waar ik zelf ook nieuwsgierig naar was toen ik me in 1993 bij Ferrari voegde. Ik wilde weten wat het verhaal erachter was en het verhaal erachter is simpel."

"Enzo Ferrari is de oprichter van Ferrari en zijn team is vrij geïsoleerd gelegen in Maranello, in vergelijking met de Britse renstallen. In die tijd was Ferrari nog het enige team dat zowel de motor als het chassis in eigen beheer ontwikkelde. Hij nam het op tegen privé-teams die allemaal dezelfde krachtbron gebruikten en een blok vormden. Daarom kreeg hij een vetorecht."

Ja nu is duidelijk van waar deze veto-recht vandaan komt, want was voor mij tot op heden een beetje een raadsel

Dus het is een oud verworven recht dat niet echt meer actueel is. Dadelijk krijgen Mercedes, Renault en Honda ook een veto recht. Dan wordt er niets meer besloten.

Tja de situatie is veranderd, er zijn dus meerdere teams die beiden disciplines doen, krijgen die nu ook een veto recht? Zal me een zooitje worden.

Toch raar dat toen in 2013 het vetorecht in stand werd gehouden de overige teams hier voorstander van waren? Lijkt me dat zij toen toch de mogelijkheden hadden om dit te beperken.

Is best wel een plausibele verklaring. Echter ontbreekt er nog iets aan deze informatie: als je iemand iets geeft krijgt daar iemand anders iets voor terug in de zakenwereld. Dat laatste aspect mis ik in dit verhaal. Heeft iemand hier meer info over? Ben wel nieuwsgierig.

En diezelfde prive teams hebben zich verdeeld laten raken waardoor het veto recht sterker is geworden?

Het klinkt als een zielig verhaal maar zie er nog steeds de logica niet van in. Sterker, dit is een krankzinnige drogredenering.
Vergelijk het met Ducati in de MotoGP, hebben die ook een vetorecht?
