Michelin doet laatste poging contract binnen te slepen

Bandenleverancier Michelin onderneemt een laatste poging een leveringscontract binnen te slepen met de Formule 1-teams. Pirelli was lange tijd de enige concurrent van de Fransen, maar de teams lijken graag met Michelin in zee te gaan door hun bewezen prestaties en ervaring in het recente Formule 1-verleden.

McLaren-teambaas Martin Whitmarsh: "Een afgevaardigde van Michelin komt zondagmorgen hier in Istanbul om met de teams te praten. Sommige teams willen de goedkoopste oplossing, andere willen de meeste technologische invloed. In verband met de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe auto's en de reglementswijzigingen is het belangrijk dat we snel een bandenleverancier contracteren."

Ondanks de late interesse van Michelin lijkt het aannemelijk dat er nog voor de Grand Prix van Canada een contract wordt getekend met een van beide bandenleveranciers.
