VT2: Nico Rosberg draait de rollen om in Brazilië

Mercedes was ongenaakbaar op de eerste dag van de Braziliaanse Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg en Lewis Hamilton bepaalden in de tweede training op Interlagos opnieuw het tempo, alleen was de volgorde omgekeerd. Hamilton had vanochtend een gat van meer dan een halve seconde, in de middagsessie was het Rosberg met een voorsprong van bijna een halve seconde.

Niet alles ging van een leien dakje voor de Duitser. In de slotfase van de training belandde Rosberg in het gras aan de buitenkant van bocht 12. De overige teams volgen op grote afstand. Ferrari-rijder Sebastian Vettel was beste van de rest op iets minder dan een seconde. Alexander Rossi spinde nog in bocht 3 en Valtteri Bottas deed hetzelfde in bocht 9.

Voor Max Verstappen was het een moeizame training. Hij was een tiende sneller dan Carlos Sainz, maar met de veertiende plek zal hij niet tevreden zijn. De Toro Rosso gleed bij het uitkomen van bocht 7 onder hem vandaan en de Nederlander klaagde over de wegligging van de auto. De achterkant was te los. De problemen waren groter voor Fernando Alonso. Rookpluimen stegen op uit de achterkant van zijn McLaren en hij parkeerde de wagen in bocht 10.

Wat was het ook al weer? Ferrari had achterstand nagenoeg ingelopen? Nog maar 10 tot 20 pk? 9,5/10e sec is wel een lichtjaar achterstand.....ook in Q2.

  Ten eerste zeggen trainingen niks over de ware tijdsverschillen en daarnaast ligt het niet alleen maar aan de motor maar moet Ferrari ook vooral op aerodinamisch gebied naar een hoger niveau. We moeten afwachten tot in hoeverre het Ferrari gaat lukken om Mercedes uit te dagen volgend jaar.

  Hele goede reacties, zou ik ook zeggen. Het stelt allemaal niet zoveel voor........maar die 20pk verschil die het nog maar zou zijn? Mercedes zou toch alleen maar een sterke motor hebben?

  Het mag duidelijk zijn, Mercedes heeft niet alleen een top motor maar ook gewoon een ijzersterk totaalpakket: chassis, aerodynamica, motor en elektronische aandrijflijn. Ferrari kan dit jaar als enige wat aanhaken omdat zij op het zelfde niveau en budget opereren maar lopen nog duidelijk wat achter. En voor de privéteams is het simpelweg onmogelijk om met de huidige technologie nog aan te haken.

  Ach iedereen weet hier wel dat het echt niet alleen de motor ligt bij Mercedes. Gewoon ff de fanboy in je die er weer uit moest zeker wijsneus.
