Boete voor Lotus na 'unsafe release'

Het zit het team van Lotus niet mee. Nadat het personeel pas donderdag aan de slag kon met de opbouw van de pitboxen kreeg het team na de eerste vrije training het verzoek zich te melden bij de wedstrijdleiding. In de eerste vrije training werd Jolyon Palmer, onlangs bevestigd als teamgenoot van Pastor Maldonado voor 2016, op pad gestuurd terwijl Jenson Button net aan kwam rijden in zijn McLaren.

Button moest stevig remmen om te voorkomen dat de Lotus van Palmer werd geraakt. Button uitte zijn ongenoegen aan het adres van Lotus door zijn hand uit de cockpit te steken. Het incident was voor de wedstrijdleiding aanleiding om het team van Lotus ter verantwoording te roepen. Na analyse van de beelden werd geconcludeerd dat de schuld van het de bijna-aanrijding bij Lotus ligt. Lotus krijgt een boete van duizend euro voor de 'unsafe release'.
