Nasr ontvangt gridstraf vanwege ophouden Massa

Felipe Nasr kwalificeerde zich als elfde voor de Grand Prix van Brazilië, maar werd na de kwalificatie ter verantwoording bij de stewards geroepen. In Q1 was Massa bezig met een snelle ronde, terwijl Nasr langzaam rondreed. Massa moest een uitwijkende actie doen om niet te veel tijd te verliezen en om Nasr te ontwijken. Vanwege het ophouden van zijn landgenoot ontvangt Nasr een gridstraf van drie plaatsen.

Nasr zou door de gridstraf van Daniel Ricciardo aanvankelijk als tiende aan zijn eerste thuis Grand Prix beginnen, maar start nu als dertiende. Door de straf schuiven Carlos Sainz, Sergio Perez en teamgenoot Marcus Ericsson een plekje naar voren. Nasr heeft ook twee strafpunten op zijn licentie gekregen.

Felipe Massa liet het volgende weten na de kwalificatie over het incident met Nasr: "Nasr heeft me of niet gezien of gewoon opgehouden in mijn snelle ronde. Door het ophouden werd het nog krap voor me om door te stoten naar Q2. Nasr liet me weten dat het team hem had verteld dat Bottas achter hem zat. Bottas liet me voorbij en Nasr verpestte vervolgens mijn rondje."
