Raikkonen vond Braziliaanse Grand Prix maar saai

Ferrari-coureur Kimi Raikkonen heeft weinig plezier beleefd aan de Grand Prix van Brazilië. De Fin stond op een twee stop-strategie en concentreerde zich vooral op het heel houden van de banden. Dat lukte, maar zonder enige opwinding. Raikkonen finishte op grote afstand van de top drie als vierde. "Voor mij was het maar een saaie race."

Hij vervolgt: "Op vers rubber was het nog wel te doen, maar op gebruikte banden worstelde ik met de voorkant van de auto en het gedrag van de banden. Het was een listige race. We startten als vierde en we eindigden als vierde. Niet schokkend, maar beter dan als laatste finishen. Als we drie stops hadden gedaan in plaats van twee, dan had dat niks uitgemaakt voor onze klassering."

"Dit is hoe het tegenwoordig vaak gaat. Voorheen hadden we nog wel eens gekke omstandigheden, een safety car hier en daar, dat soort dingen. Dan krijg je vanzelf meer actie op de baan en meer duels. Maar nu is een saaie race eerder regel dan uitzondering. Brazilië was zo'n dag."

    Dat ik dat vanachter mijn TV zou zeggen kan nog, maar dat jij als muzikant van de band na het optreden zegt dat je het maar een saai optreden vond is veelzeggend.

      Heb Kimi niet eens gezien. Volgens mij was de helft van de wedstrijd de camera op Max gericht. Dat was tenminste spannend.

    Omdat Kimi het zegt zal hij vast wel kritiek krijgen, maar hij heeft eigenlijk wel gelijk. Het was denk ik de saaiste race van het seizoen. Het enige hoogtepunt was Max en om Pastor kon je nog een keertje lachen maar verder houd het ook wel op.

    Is het geen idee om langs de baan waterinstallaties te installeren, zodat er op ieder moment tijdens de race, er water op de baan kan komen. Dus het simuleren daarvnan.

      Dat idee is al eens serieus door ome Bernie geopperd, gelukkig was hij de eneig dit dit serieus overwoog.

      Als je het nog niet doorhad, elke keer als ze weer eens een regeltje maken om het minder saai te maken heeft dat als gevolg dat het nog saaier word.

    Het was een vreselijke race. De verschillen zijn te groot, er vinden nauwelijks wat gevechten plaats. Ja, het middenveld, maar om nou elke race alleen maar daar naar te kijken...

      Ik kan me prima vermaken met de gevechten in het middenveld! Dat de winst naar Mercedes zou gaan was al duidelijk vanaf de kwalificatie.

    Nou Kimi, je was niet de enige. Er was weinig aan. En zowat de enige die de race nog enigszins het aankijken waard maakte was je toekomstige opvolger! ;-)

    Als Max de zijn inhaalacties niet had uitgevoerd, was ik waarschijnlijk in slaap gevallen.
    Ik vond het voor Soa Paulo een erg saaie race, normaal is het een race die toch altijd wel iets te bieden heeft.

      Komt ook doordat er geen uitvallers (alleen Sainz in de eerste ronde) waren. Een safety car was toch leuk geweest.

      Bij de Nascar doen ze soms een competition caution. Dit houdt in dat als de verschillen te groot worden, dat de safety car naar buiten komt en het veld weer dicht bij elkaar brengt.

      Misschien niet de eerlijkste manier, maar het geeft wel spectakel en daar draait het toch om?!
