Nederland goed vertegenwoordigd in Dakar 2016

De organisatie van Dakar heeft vandaag een officiële presentatie over de komende editie gehouden. Daarin deden ze wat details over het deelnemersveld uit de doeken. In januari verschijnen 556 deelnemers aan de start en Nederland is goed vertegenwoordigd.

14,4 procent van de deelnemers is namelijk afkomstig uit Nederland. Daarmee neemt Nederland de tweede plaats in als het gaat om de nationaliteit van de deelnemers. Alleen Frankrijk vaardigt met 15,5 procent meer deelnemers af, terwijl Argentinië niet ver weg is met 13,8 procent.

Zestig nationaliteiten doen in 2016 mee aan de Dakar. Voor het eerst staat er iemand uit Lesotho op de deelnemerslijst. Het veld bestaat uit 354 voertuigen; 143 motoren, 110 auto's, 55 trucks en 46 quads. Dakar 2016 begint op 2 januari.
