Rosberg ontvangt sportprijs van prins Albert

Nico Rosberg heeft uit handen van prins Albert de 'Médaille des Sports en Argent' ontvangen. De Monegaskische medaille staat voor sportief succes, iets wat bij de Duitser niet ontbreekt in Monaco. De 30-jarige Mercedes-coureur won de afgelopen drie edities van de Grand Prix van Monaco. Iets wat enkel Graham Hill (1963, 1964 en 1965), Alain Prost (1984,1985 en 1986) en Monaco-virtuoos Ayrton Senna (1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 en 1993) eerder voor elkaar kregen.

De vice-kampioen van 2014 groeide op in het prinsdom en is daar nog steeds woonachtig samen met zijn vrouw Vivian en dochter Alaia. Rosberg werd na afloop van zijn overwinningen uitgenodigd om te dineren met prins Albert en zijn vrouw Charlene. De derde keer leverde dit hem echter pas de prijs op.

Rosberg laat in de Bild optekenen: "Het is zeer bijzonder om geëerd te worden in het paleis van Prins Albert, hij is een enorm sportfan." De tafelgesprekken zijn echter niet enkel gericht op sport. "Er is nu toch een ander gemeenschappelijk thema." grijnst Rosberg. Tussen de Grand Prix van België en Italië werd de Duitser namelijk vader van een dochter, terwijl de prins en zijn vrouw eind 2014 hun tweeling Gabriella en Jaques ter wereld brachten.

Teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton, ook inwoner van het prinsdom, maakte geen kans op de prijs. De Engelsman won in 2008 wel de Grand Prix van Monaco, maar liep de overwinning dit jaar mis in de laatste ronden van de race door een onnodige pitstop.

Dat is niet relevant, hij heeft deze GP 3x op rij gewonnnen, daar valt niets op af te dingen. Ik ben het helemaal met je eens dat de kwalificatie vorig jaar op zijn minst dubieus was, maar de pitstop dit jaar was Lewis zijn eigen keuze. Duidelijk dat Prins Albert in eerste instantie die sportprijs wilde overhandigen aan Lewis Hamilton, tot dat feestbeest rotzooi ging maken met zijn Pagani.

  Waar baseer je dat op? Rosberg is natuurlijk een model burger voor het kleine staatje, woont er al van kinds af aan, is persoonlijk bevriend met Albert, en wint er 3x op rij. Ik zie geen reden waarom Albert het Lewis zou "gunnen" ook als je kijkt naar de sportieve prestaties daar.

  Dan weet jij ook wel dat er weinig sportief is aan die prestaties. Vorig jaar de kwali zogenaamde haperende auto van Rosberg, en dit jaar de pit blunder van Mercedes/Lewis. Anderes had hij nooit 3x op rij deze GP gewonnen.. Maar goed als als als.. Verder niets bijzonders dus eigenlijk

Weet niet hoeveel prijzen en onderscheidingen het vorstendom Monaco uitgeeft. Schijnbaar is dit met belasting ontduiken hun core business. Volgens mij heeft kabouter plop er een gekregen voor de leukste kabouter.
