Vettel miste 'goede vriend' Schumacher bij RoC

Ferrari-coureur Sebastian Vettel triomfeerde dit weekend in de Race of Champions. De Duitser was voor het eerst de sterkste in het individuele toernooi. In de Nations Cup verdedigde hij samen met Nico Hülkenberg de eer van Duitsland, met wie hij strandde in de finale.

Voorheen was Vettel jarenlang ongenaakbaar in de Nations Cup met Michael Schumacher als teamgenoot. Aan SID liet de viervoudig wereldkampioen weten: "Het is jammer dat Michael er nu niet meer bij kan zijn, het is voor ons allemaal moeilijk."

"We weten dat hij knokt, we weten dat hij er niet goed aan toe is, dus we wensen hem het beste. Het is een lastige kwestie voor ons, de meesten van ons kennen hem persoonlijk. Het komt erop neer dat hij een goede vriend is en dat we Michael erg missen."
