VW trekt niet de stekker uit autosportactiviteiten

De Volkswagen Group is niet van plan om de autosportactiviteiten te staken nu het in een enorm schandaal verwikkeld is. De merken van de Duitse autogigant sjoemelden op grote schaal met de software voor uitstootgegevens en zal daar flink voor moeten boeten. De kosten lopen in de miljarden, maar Volkswagen snijdt niet in het autosportprogramma.

Dat beloofde de nieuwe topman Matthias Müller. "Onze autosportactiviteiten lopen geen gevaar om geschrapt of significant teruggeschroefd te worden, want autosport is zeer belangrijk voor de groep en onze merken. Kortom, over ons autosportprogramma bestaan geen twijfels", verklaarde hij bij de seizoensafsluiter van het WEC in Bahrein.

Of de Volkswagen Group nog enige ambities koestert om in de nabije toekomst een Formule 1-project te starten is onbekend. Vlak voordat het schandaal uitbrak gingen er geruchten over een mogelijke toekomstige samenwerking met Red Bull Racing. Volkswagen zal eerst deze zwarte bladzijde om moeten slaan voordat de Formule 1 weer op de radar opdoemt, zo lijkt het.

Is dat zo ? Dacht dat geen zinnig mens nu nog voor dat merk ging kiezen.
Ik rijd al met mijn 3de Skoda maar dat zal mijn laatste wagen van de VW groep worden.

    kan ik me iets bij voorstellen. Verder lopen volgnes mij de kosten voor de autosport voor een autofabrikant onder de noemer reclame en promotie en zijn daardoor in ieder geval voor een groot deel aftrekbaar van de belasting...

      Als bedrijf geniet je van een aantal aftrekposten, voornamelijk research en investeringen, maar bij mijn weten zit marketing niet in dat rijtje.

    Allicht trekken ze de stekker er niet uit. De ingenieurs die betrokken waren bij de sjoemelsoftware wacht een gouden toekomst in de autosport! ;-)

    VAG heeft nog nooit zo veel auto's verkocht als na het 'schandaal' en het vervangen van chips en eventuele boetes kan het concern makkelijk dragen.

      Natuurlijk interesseert het de consument net zo min of er met die software is gerommeld als dat het de consument interesseert of de uitstoot iets minder is. VW zal dit met gemak overleven en met miljarden boetes in het vooruitzicht is het geheel niet ondenkbaar dat de hoge heren van de VAG en het Amerikaanse hooggerechtshof en de Amerikaanse en Europese politici achter de schermen tot een prachtige uitspraak gaan komen waarbij het lijkt alsof VAG keihard gestraft wordt maar wel zodanig dat men vrolijk verder kan.
      Met speels gemak reserveerde VW al ff een potje van 18 miljard. Alsof het niks is.
      Zelf rij ik in een XC90 diesel vanwege het comfort en heb gewoon een waterstofkit gemonteerd à 250,-.
      Mijn uitstoot benaderd daardoor die van een elektrische fiets en ik heb nog meer pk's erbij ook. Verbruik is hetzelfde gebleven. Lach me rot.

    Ach, in 2014 alleen gaven ze al 13.5 miljard enkel aan R&D uit (niet geheel juist besteed natuurlijk..) dus zelfs met €5 - €10 miljard geschatte schadeposten de komende jaren redden ze het wel in Wolffsburg wel.

    Een €250-€500 miljoen per jaar voor een F1 motorprogramma zie ik nog steeds wel op de rit voor 2018-2020, zeker nu besloten is de activiteiten in andere klassen als WEC en DTM te gaan terugschroeven voor Audi en Porsche

    Hadden de overheden een fatsoenlijk en goed test programma gehad, dan waren de auto's niet goed gekeurd. En ik betwijfel dat mijn eigen auto (niet uit de VAG) ook dezelfde resultaten laat zien.
