Hardnekkige bandenproblemen teisteren Williams

Het team van Williams kampt al het hele seizoen met bandenproblemen. De rijders van de Britse renstal hebben de grootst mogelijke moeite om het rubber in het raamwerk waarin ze optimaal functioneren te krijgen. Een oplossing voor die problemen ligt niet voor het oprapen, zo hebben ze in Grove gemerkt.

Coureur Valtteri Bottas: "We zijn geen steek dichter bij het antwoord. We hebben wat middelen tot onze beschikking om de banden af te koelen of er juist extra temperatuur in te brengen, maar we hebben ons plafond bereikt. We kunnen niet meer doen met de remschijven of wat dan ook om de banden verder af te koelen. We weten dat het niet genoeg is, maar voor dit seizoen is er niets meer aan te doen."

Op de vraag van Autosport of een fundamentele verandering in het ontwerp van de auto nodig is voor volgend jaar, antwoordde de Fin: "Ik denk het wel. Het team kijkt daar ook naar. Hopelijk krijgen we volgend seizoen wel alle compounds aan de praat."
