VT1: Hamilton en Rosberg bezetten weer P1 en P2

De eerste vrije training voor de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi heeft een vertrouwd beeld opgeleverd, namelijk met een Mercedes op plek één en een Mercedes op plek twee. Lewis Hamilton was met een 1:43.754 iets meer dan een tiende sneller dan teamgenoot Nico Rosberg. Daarachter een gapend gat naar de rest. Kimi Raikkonen eindigde als derde, op zes tienden van Rosberg.

Niet alles ging van een leien dakje bij Mercedes. Rosberg klaagde over de remmen en schoot een paar keer van de baan. De Duitser moest aan het einde van de sessie nog een run afbreken vanwege een te lage bandenspanning. Hamilton was aan het begin van de training niet tevreden over zijn zitpositie en de stand van zijn stuurwiel.

Dat ging allemaal langs Max Verstappen heen. De jonge Nederlander deed vooral lange runs en legde uiteindelijk beslag op de twaalfde plaats. Hij was een halve seconde sneller dan teamgenoot Carlos Sainz. Lotus-reserverijder Jolyon Palmer kon pas in de laatste tien minuten naar buiten door een waterlek. De Brit spinde pardoes in bocht 18.

    Nog best knap dat de Red Bulls zo goed kunnen meekomen met die rechte stukken. Het lijkt weer een feestje van de vier Mercedes-powered teams te worden samen met Ferrari.. al hoop ik voor Max en Scuderia Felicien wel dat onze Hollandse trots zondag een beetje mee kan!

    Op BBC zeiden ze dat bandentemperatuur wel een factor kan zijn, gelukkig heeft Max's STR een gebalanceerd chassis en stabiele remweg. En Max past sowieso altijd goed op zijn banden

    Duidelijk is wel dat Hulkenberg ergens grof in de fout moet gaan wil Max p10 nog veilig stellen zondag.

      Max concentreerde zich op de long runs en met het oog op zondag is dat de juiste beslissing. Laten ze Hulkenberg maar lekker in slaap sussen op vrijdag.
