Jaguar Land Rover overweegt bod op Silverstone

Jaguar Land Rover speelt met de gedachte om een bod uit te brengen op het circuit van Silverstone. De Financial Times bericht dat moederbedrijf Tata in juli Cushman & Wakefield de opdracht heeft gegeven om de waarde van de baan in kaart te brengen.

De waarde van Silverstone wordt geschat op 22,7 miljoen pond. Jaguar Land Rover zou op het circuit een nieuw hoofdkwartier willen laten verrijzen waar 1.000 man personeel in terecht kan. De British Racing Drivers' Club en haar 850 leden gaan over de lease van Silverstone.

Autosport meldt dat de BRDC de leden een bericht heeft gestuurd met de boodschap dat ze nog geen officieel bod hebben ontvangen. "We zijn benaderd door meerdere partijen met belangstelling voor het iconische circuit van Silverstone en die schatten we op waarde."

"Mocht iemand een aantrekkelijk bod uitbrengen op Silverstone, dan zal het bestuur van de BRDC eerst de leden verzoeken om een mandaat om de onderhandelingen op te starten. We hebben verder geen commentaar op de circulerende geruchten."

      Dan heb je mooi pech. De postcode kanjer wordt verdeeld over alle mensen met dezelfde postcode. tenzij je natuurlijk in een klein gehuchtje woont waar jij de enige bent met de winnende postcode.

    Niet dat ik het op mijn bankrekening heb, maar eigenlijk vind ik 22,7 miljoen wel 'meevallen'. Als je zie hoe groot het is, hoeveel mogelijkheden er zijn en dat er pas een nieuw pitcomplex op gebouwd is... ik had het een miljoen of 7 duurder geschat.
    (Jaguar) Land Rover die een 'vlak' circuit koopt... zouden ze er ook een offroad baan bij bouwen?
