Toekomst van Formule 1 in Sotsji niet in gevaar

De toekomst van de Grand Prix van Rusland op het Sochi Autodrom is niet in het geding, beweert de organisatie. De regio Krasnodar lijkt zijn handen van het evenement af te trekken. Vice-gouverneur Igor Galas vertelde aan RBC: "Wij gaan de kosten voor de Formule 1 niet meer dragen."

Sotsji zou zelf sponsors en investeerders moeten lokken om de Grand Prix te financieren. Promotor Sergei Vorobyov benadrukt tegenover Tass dat er niks aan de hand is. "De Formule 1-ronde in Sotsji is veilig voor nog vele jaren en dat weten wij absoluut zeker."

"Er zijn inderdaad diverse meningen en beslissingen. We werken constant aan het optimaliseren van het management voor het project en de structuur. Maar dit staat niet in verband met de bezoekers van de Sochi Autodrom of met de toekomst van onze Grand Prix."
