Bottas zelfkritisch na middelmatig seizoen 2015

Williams-coureur Valtteri Bottas is niet tevreden over hetgeen hij dit seizoen heeft laten zien. De Fin eindigde als vijfde in de stand en verzamelde meer punten dan teamgenoot Felipe Massa, maar het aantal positieve uitschieters was spaarzamer dan in 2014.

Bottas weet dat zelf als geen ander. Tegenover UOL Esporte zegt hij: "Om heel eerlijk te zijn ben ik niet tevreden over het afgelopen seizoen. Ik heb een paar keer pech gehad, maar het is me ook vaak niet gelukt om de volle honderd procent uit het pakket te halen. De laatste races vertoonden een stijgende lijn. We hadden wat dingen veranderd en ik voelde me beter in de auto."

"Als coureur moet je eerlijk en direct zijn bij het geven van feedback. Het is aan mij om het team te pushen en aan te geven hoe ik het hebben wil. Dat gebeurt alleen niet van de ene op de andere dag. Ik ben nog steeds gemotiveerd om het team te helpen, want ik verwacht volgend jaar over een sterkere auto te beschikken en betere resultaten te behalen dan dit seizoen."

Als je je iets meer verdiept in waar ze vandaan komen, afgelopen jaren bijna de achterhoede met nietszeggende coureurs, is het heel knap dat ze nu gewoon weer bij de top 3 teams staan. Williams vind ik een grijze muis in het huidige rijdersveld. Vallen zelden op en vallen regelmatig door het ijs.

  inderdaad vallen ze vaak niet op, alleen als het mis gaat.
  
  Ze zijn netjes 3de geworden bij de constructeurs. Niks mis mee. Volgend jaar zakken ze weer iets terug en bij de nieuwe regels in 2017 kunnen ze er gewoon weer goed bijzitten net als 2013 naar 2014

  opereren ook een beetje in niemandsland, te sterk voor het middenveld, niet sterk genoeg om structureel Ferrari of Mercedes aan te vallen, bovendien zijn ze slechts een klantenteam, echt races winnen ten koste van Mercedes zal dhr Wolff geen goed idee vinden.
  Daar komt nog eens bij dat de rijders nou niet bepaald de meest spectaculaire vd grid.
  Maar goed dat Bottas hand in eigen boezem steekt, zijn seizoen was flets/grijs/onopvallend/ga zo maar door.
  Ik vind het geen aanwinst voor de f1

  Bottas heeft een goed CV anders.
  
  In de F1 ben je helaas teveel afhankelijk van je materiaal. Gooi alle 2015 coureurs door elkaar. Rij het zelfde seizoen. Constructeurs stand zal er nagenoeg hetzelfde uit zien. De ene coureur maakt misschien een foutje minder dan de ander maar het zit toch echt in de auto wat er aan het einde uitkomt. (Tenzij je echt niet kan sturen)

  @Erik, zeker heeft Bottas een goede cv, het kan immers behoorlijk koud zijn in Finland gedurende de wintermaanden

Bottas wordt nooit een topper, dat gevoel had ik 2 jaar terug al en nu blijkt het ook zo te zijn. Doet me een beetje denken aan Rubens (niet onze Rubbens ;-)) Barrichello destijds
