Aston Martin beslist in het nieuwe jaar over F1

Aston Martin heeft een beslissing over eventuele Formule 1-plannen voor zich uitgeschoven. Het Britse merk staat in contact met Force India over een mogelijke samenwerking. Aston Martin zou dan zijn naam aan de Indiase renstal verbinden, maar het bestuur is er nog niet uit.

Journalist Adam Cooper vernam van Simon Sproule, directeur marketing en communicatie bij Aston Martin: "We hebben nog geen besluit genomen. En de kans is nihil dat we knopen over de Formule 1 of de bredere autosportstrategie doorhakken voordat het nieuwe jaar aanbreekt."

"We bestuderen ook welke route we met de sportscars gaan volgen en hoe we daar mee verder gaan. We kijken niet alleen naar de Formule 1." Aston Martin is al maanden bezig met een eventueel Formule 1-project en sprak in een eerder stadium met Red Bull Racing en Williams.

Ik zou het wel jammer vinden om de naam "Force India" te zien verdwijnen. Toch wel een team wat naam voor zichzelf heeft gemaakt en dat nog altijd doet. Niks tegen Aston Martin verder.
