Wetswijziging gunstig voor F1-toekomst Monza

Het toekomstperspectief voor de Italiaanse Grand Prix op Monza ziet er opeens heel rooskleurig uit. Gazzetta dello Sport bericht dat de verlenging van het contract van het historische circuit met de Formule 1 voor de periode na 2016 nu aanstaande is.

Dat is het gevolg van een wetswijziging. Na een marathonvergadering van 37 uur ging het budgetcomité van het Italiaanse parlement akkoord met het herschrijven van artikel 183 in het wetboek, de 'Legge di stabilita' of stabiliteitswet, meldt La Repubblica

Die schreef voor dat de financiering van de Grand Prix alleen door de Italiaanse autosportbond ACI mocht geschieden. Door de wijziging is er nu ruimte voor financiers van buitenaf. ACI-voorzitter Angelo Sticchi Damiani: "Dit is baanbrekend, het belangrijkste werk is nu gedaan."

    Maar aan de andere kant is het wel weer een overwinning voor Ecclestone die bedragen eist die verre van realistisch zijn. Waarmee F1 alleen maar verder en verder weg komt te staan van de fans. Een circuit zou toch op zijn minst een race moeten kunnen organiseren op puur kaartenverkoop en eventuele sponsering moeten kunnen gebruiken voor onderhoud en een beetje winst. Het organiseren van een GP zou niet alleen maar verliesgevend moeten zijn voor de circuits, want het model is feitelijk niet levensvatbaar.

      Jammer dat dit legendarische circuit niet meer op de kalender voorkomt, maar ja zo kunnen we nog wel een paar noemen.

      Nee, Imola is niet meer wat het is geweest: chicane op chicane. t/m 1994 was Imola een fantastische baan. Als je denkt aan alle F1 races op Imola sindsdien (en ik heb ze allemaal live gezien) dan moet je concluderen dat er vrijwel nooit werd ingehaald en de races saaie optochten waren. Ze hebben de lay-out verneukt.
