Wijziging in wet goed nieuws voor Formule 1-toekomst van Monza

De Italiaanse senaat heeft een amendement goedgekeurd dat er voor moet zorgen dat de toekomst van de Formule 1 op het historische Monza een stuk zekerder is. Volgens Gazetta dello Sport, een van de bekendste Italiaanse sportkranten, zorgt het amendement ervoor dat de Automobile Club d'Italia om haar opbrengsten te gebruiken voor het financieren van de race.

Voorheen was alleen de Automobile Club van Milaan gemachtigd de race te financiëren. Automobile Club van Milaan financierde de race met de opbrengsten van de kaartverkoop. Door de goedkeuring van het amendement kan de Automobile Club d'Italia ongeveer 12,5 miljoen dollar investeren. Volgens de voorzitter van de Automobile Club d'Italia, Sticchi Damiani, is de race door de besluitvorming van de Italiaanse senaat gered. Damiani verwacht dat een nieuwe overeenkomst in januari getekend zal gaan worden met Bernie Ecclestone.
