Red Bull heeft vertrouwen in competitieve motor in 2017

Het seizoen 2016 moet nog beginnen, maar Red Bull is nu al bezig met een competitieve motor voor het seizoen 2017. Afgelopen seizoen verslikte het team zich lelijk in de kansen op het verkrijgen van competitief materiaal en was er even de dreiging dat Red Bull Racing en Toro Rosso in 2016 niet op de grid zouden staan. Uiteindelijk kwam het goed en zal Red Bull in 2016 rijden met Renault-motoren die omgedoopt zijn tot TAG-Heuer. Samen met Marco Illien van Ilmor zal Renault de krachtbron gaan ontwikkelen. Voor 2017 heeft Red Bull goede kansen op een competitieve motor, aldus teambaas Christian Horner.

"Het is lastig om er iets over te zeggen op dit moment, op dit moment zullen er geen aankondigingen worden gedaan op het vlak van motoren door ons. Ik geloof echter dat we voor 2017 in een betere positie zitten dan eerder dit jaar toen het ons bijna niet lukte om een competitieve leverancier te vinden. Voor nu ligt alles nog open", aldus Horner.

Eerder dit jaar werd er ook gesproken over klantenmotoren in 2017. Dat plan werd van tafel geveegd: in plaats daarvan wil men de bestaande leveranciers onder druk zetten om hun motoren goedkoper aan te bieden. Wat er ook gebeurt, volgens Christian Horner openen de discussies tussen de FIA, de teams en de motorleveranciers nieuwe mogelijkheden voor teams zoals Red Bull Racing: "De FIA buigt zich er op het moment over. Jean Todt werkt er aan om te zorgen dat het geregeld wordt en hij lijkt niet te willen opgeven. Ik denk dat 2017 een nieuw begin wordt voor de Formule 1."

Horner doelt met een nieuw begin op de ingrijpende regelwijzigingen die op stap staan. Er komen nieuwe regels met betrekking tot de aerodynamica met als doel snellere wagens en betere races. Volgens Horner kunnen de nieuwe regels ook de rangorde bij de motorleveranciers in de war schoppen: "In 2014 was Mercedes duidelijk de sterkste, terwijl we in 2015 zagen dat Ferrari een stuk dichterbij was gekomen. Ferrari had in 2014 een slechtere motor dan de Renault-motor, maar hebben in de winter veel gewonnen. Zo zie je maar dat dingen heel snel kunnen veranderen, we zullen zien hoe het er voor staat over drie of vier maanden."

  We mogen aannemen dat de Ferrari motor betrouwbaar is en tevens mogen we aannemen dat bij aanvang van seizoen de snelheid tov andere team beter zal zijn dan in 2015
  Ja dat denk ik ook wel. maar de vraag is,
  
  Mag str / of gaat Ferrari deze 2015 Ferrari motor in 2016 nog verbeteren / ondersteunen,

blijft dus allemaal giswerk voor 2017. Voor 2016 is het geen giswerk, Mercedes wederom veel 1-2tjes. Ferrari mag de kruimels oprapen. Als de beslissingen in de F1 niet op een andere manier worden genomen als nu het geval is veranderd er niets. Voor Red Bull is er maar een manier om weer kampioen te worden en dat is een motorenpartner, een VW of een andere autofabrikant. Een klantenmotor of een overjarig model van de huidige motorenleveranciers, gaat het niet worden.

Mocht de motorenformule in 2018 worden opengebroken en men gaat terug naar atmosferische motoren, zonder hybride systemen veranderd de zaak, dan kan men wel kampioen worden met een klantenmotor. Simpel omdat de kosten velen malen lager liggen dan nu zodat een Illmor of andere motorenbouwer een competitieve motor kan aanbieden.

Gelul, dit verhaal. Je bouwt niet ff in een jaar tijd een motor die in de buurt van Mercedes en Ferrari kan komen.

Op de eerste testdagen van het komende jaar zullen we het allemaal wel zien maar ik denk dat ze al een hele poos weten waar ze aan toe zijn .
