Silverstone stevent af op winst voor Grand Prix

De organisatie van de Britse Grand Prix zal over 2015 financieel in de plus eindigen. Silverstone maakt dus winst op het Formule 1-evenement. Op de race kwamen bij de afgelopen editie ruim 140.000 toeschouwers af, 20.000 meer dan het jaar ervoor.

Silverstone-directeur Patrick Allen lichtte Autosport in: "Ik heb alle rekeningen gezien en we houden geld over, we hebben winst gemaakt. Dat is voor het eerst in jaren. Financieel gaat het nu goed, we hebben het tij maar mooi weten te keren. Het hele team bij Silverstone is hiervoor verantwoordelijk. Zonder hun inzet was dit nooit mogelijk geweest."

"We hebben veel contracten met leveranciers herzien. We zijn veel efficiënter geworden met de aan- en afvoer van verkeer. Met de kaarten hadden we gemiddeld gezien een lage prijs. Het mechanisme is simpel; als er meer bezoekers komen, kan ik het jaar daarop de prijzen verder verlagen. Het gaat nu goed, maar we mogen niet op onze lauweren rusten. Het is zaak om door te pakken."
