Le Mans Update 2: #3 Peugeot valt uit vanaf tweede positie

Slechts een half uur na onze eerste update vanuit Le Mans, voltrok zich een klein drama voor Peugeot. Het team reed met drie fabrieksauto's aan de leiding van de race, toen rond half 6 de #3 Peugeot uitviel met problemen.

Frank Montagny had in de 37e ronde een voorsprong van 15 seconden op Pedro Lamy op het moment dat hij zijn pitstop maakte. Stephane Sarrazin nam het stuur over van de Fransman, maar op datzelfde moment viel bij Lamy alle snelheid weg. Er kwam rook van het rechtervoorwiel vandaan en Lamy werd teruggeduwd de pitbox in. Enkele momenten later werd het duidelijk dat de #3 Peugeot niet meer kon rijden.

Hierdoor lag Sarrazin bij het begin van zijn eerste stint aan de leiding, gevolgd door de andere twee Peugeot's van Anthony Davidson (Wurz en Gene) en Nicolas Lapierre (Panis, Duval). Tom Kristensen is de snelste Audi op de vierde plaats. Christijan Albers rijdt met de R10 op de tiende positie.

In de LMP2-klasse leidt momenteel Danny Watts, voor Werner. In de GT1-klasse rijdt Hirschi aan de leiding, terwijl Xavier Maassen met zijn teamgenoten tweede ligt in deze klasse. In de GT2 rijdt Bruni vooraan, terwijl Paul van Splunteren 42e overall ligt en 12e in de GT2. Tom Coronel en Jeroen Bleekemolen liggen momenteel vijftiende in de GT2-klasse.
