Haas beweegt Penske niet tot terugkeer in de F1

De toetreding van Haas F1 Team tot de Formule 1 krijgt vooralsnog geen navolging in de Verenigde Staten van Amerika. Roger Penske heeft bewondering voor het project van Gene Haas, maar zelf voelt hij geen aandrang om met een renstal terug te keren in de koningsklasse van de autosport.

De 78-jarige Amerikaan verklaarde: "De Formule 1 is vandaag de dag nog steeds een bijzondere serie, zoals het altijd is geweest. Het is voor elk land wat de Indy 500 voor ons is. Echter, tenzij je een basis in Europa hebt en volle toewijding voor de Formule 1 bezit, denk ik niet dat je competitief kunt zijn."

"Gene Haas heeft min of meer een apart team opgezet en financieel heeft hij zich toegewijd om het tot stand te brengen. Voor ons is dat moment min of meer gepasseerd. Daarom focussen wij onze inspanningen op de IndyCar, NASCAR, Xfinity en de Australische V8 Supercars, niet op de Formule 1."

Ik zie liever nog een Europese autofabrikant toetreden.

F1 en US ... het werd nooit een langdurig liefdesverhaal en dat zal het nooit worden. Er zijn ginds teveel raceklasses die de amerikaanse burgers meer aanspreekt. Zoals Algarve aangeeft hebben ze op commercieel vlak een grote voorsprong to... [Lees verder]

    Jammer.. Penske F1, Will Power, Marlboro rood-wit, Verizon titelsponsor.. F1 moet meer US interesse en sponsoren aantrekken, commercieel gezien kan het nog een hoop leren van NASCAR

    Jammer dat de VAG groep in nauwe schoentjes zit, ik geloof dat ze echt wel een plaatsje op de F1 grid wilden bemachtigen. Helaas...

      Wat bedoel je met conservatief, de sponsoring? Ik neem aan dat je het niet over de auto's hebt. IndyCar is aan het vernieuwen, de rest alleen maar bakken van auto's met veel vermogen.. F1 is wat dat betreft High Tec en zeker niet conservatief.

      @ JAS VERSTOPPEN , In de US is b.v NASCAR iets wat diep zit bij de Amerikanen, het is een soort passie, vergelijkbaar hier met voetbal ook is.
      Hoewel de F1 hier wel door veel mensen in de EU wordt gevolgt, het haalt het niet bij de gekte die het voetballen genereert. Idem daar met bv NASCAR.

      In bepaalde staten is het zelfs populaider als Football wat daar ook groots is.
      Dus de commerciele belangen liggen in die sporten ook veel hoger, de F1 is daar klein, maar de kosten voor de F1 zijn hoog. Grote sponsors met veel geld ter beschikking kiezen liever dus voor de grote publiektrekkers daar.
      Voor de kleinere investeerders is de F1 is het daar moeilijk tegen op te boksen om het een groter opbrengten uit te gaan halen.

      Dat is waar CAVALLINO op doelt met grote voorsprong.
      Het is hetzelfde als Football hier, het kan niet concuerren met europeese voetbal hier.
      Voetbal heeft hier een commercieel te grote voorsprong.
