Force India neemt een voorbeeld aan Williams

De prestaties van Williams in de voorbije twee jaar gelden als ijkpunt voor het team van Force India. Beide renstallen gaan als klantenteam van Mercedes door het leven en moeten in de Formule 1 opboksen tegen de fabrieksteams. Daarin neemt Williams het voortouw, maar Force India laat zich steeds nadrukkelijker gelden.

Bob Fernley, vice-teambaas bij de Indiase renstal, verkondigde aan Autosport: "Realistisch gezien is wat Williams momenteel presteert het hoogst haalbare dat wij kunnen bereiken. Williams zet de standaard wat betreft de performance van privé-teams, ze doen mee om podiumplekken. Tenzij er ergens anders iets hopeloos mis gaat zullen ze geen race winnen. Een kampioenschap is sowieso uitgesloten."

"Aerodynamisch gezien doet Williams het iets beter dan wij, wat aantoont dat we meer kunnen doen. Als je de grafieken van de tweede helft van afgelopen seizoen erbij pakt, dan zie je dat we beetje voor beetje iets van die achterstand af knibbelen. We maken een inhaalslag en dat is een langzaam proces. Zij staan ook niet stil, dus we weten wat ons te doen staat."
