Paul Ricard stelt zich kandidaat voor Franse GP

Paul Ricard heeft een proefballonnetje opgelaten om de Grand Prix van Frankrijk nieuw leven in te blazen. Het circuit in de buurt van Marseille was deze week voor het eerst sinds 2008 gastheer van een Formule 1-test. Dat was toevallig ook het laatste jaar van de Formule 1-race op Magny-Cours.

Een roulatieschema met Magny-Cours behoort voor Paul Ricard-directeur Stephane Clair tot de opties. "Alles is mogelijk", verklaarde hij aan AFP. "We weten dat het voor ons haalbaar is om 50.000 mensen per dag te verwelkomen. Misschien is het om de beurt een Grand Prix organiseren met Magny-Cours de oplossing. Voor ons is geen deur gesloten, zolang het financieel in balans is."

Clair zou reeds met de Emmanuel Macron, de Franse minister voor Economie, gesproken hebben. Paul Ricard is tevens voor een deel eigendom van een familiefonds van Bernie Ecclestone.

@MV: Tegenwoordig is Magny Cours heel goed te bereiken aangezien de gedroomde snelweg eindelijk er ligt. Bovendien qua baan is Magny Cours altijd beter geweest dan Paul Ricard. Dus wat mij betreft gaan we terug naar Nevers.

    Nee! Het enige goede aan Paul Ricard is dat ze het minder saai kunnen maken met wat nepregen. Verder zie ik tegenwoordig wel genoeg optochten op verlaten vliegvelden of in de woestijn

      Paul Ricard is altijd nog stukken beter dan dat circuit van Magny Cours dat echt in the middle of nowhere ligt.

      bij Paul Ricard heb je tenminste nog steden als Marseille en Toulon in de buurt.

      Tjah, Magny Cours was dan ook nooit erg spectaculair. Op die 4-stopper van MSC na zo'n beetje. Dan lijkt me het Bugatti Circuit bij Le Mans me nog leuker

      @MICHEL VAILLANT: MC ligt 85 km van mijn huis af, daarnaast is het goed en snel te bereiken vanuit Parijs (autoweg tot voor de deur), Nevers, Lyon, Dijon en Beaune. Dus ligt het zeker niet 'in the middle of nowhere'.

      Dat is hij al sinds 1999 ofzo. En we zijn er nog nooit geweest voor een Formule 1 race sindsdien. Dus dat hij eigenaar is van het circuit zegt nog niets.

      Hij is ook de eigenaar van Istanbul Park tegenwoordig dacht ik, daar is ook geen F1 race geweest meer sindsdien.
