Haas F1 vindt fulltime reservecoureur niet nodig

Haas F1 Team is niet van plan om een eigen reserverijder in te huren. De Amerikaanse nieuwkomer trekt samen met Ferrari op in de zoektocht naar een geschikte derde rijder voor de Scuderia. Daar zal Haas indien nodig dan ook een beroep op mogen doen.

Gene Haas deelde aan Daily Global mede: "We hebben geen reservecoureur op dit moment. De beste oplossing zou zijn om een reserverijder te delen met Ferrari, dus het zou mooi zijn als we iemand kunnen vinden voor die rol."

"Met de veiligheid is het zo goed gesteld dat je in de huidige Formule 1 alleen een reserve nodig hebt voor het geval dat een van je vaste coureurs ziek is of een ander noodgeval heeft. Een reserverijder is minder noodzakelijk dan gedacht. In NASCAR doen we het ook zonder reserve."

    Waarom niet kiezen voor een GP2 coureur met een zak geld. x aantal testdagen geven en misschien keer een vrij een vrije training.. Wat extra 'gratis' geld voor een beginnend team...

      Misschien omdat ze liever de coureurs die er dit jaar echt toe doen voor het team zo veel mogelijk ervaring op willen laten doen samen met het team?

    Ik denk dat het inderdaad niet zinvol is om voor de kleinere teams een derde rijder altijd aanwezig te hebben. Waarom zou je dat ook doen je kunt beter met een ander team zeggen we houden een rijder in geval van nood die bij één van de teams kan invallen.

    Reserve coureur is tegenwoordig (qua tracktime) een waardeloze baan tenzij je hebt kunnen afdwingen dat je een aantal FP1 sessies mag rijden. Maar dan nog moet je maar afwachten dat ze die afspraken daadwerkelijk na komen. Er zijn vrijwel geen testdagen meer en dan kiezen ze vaak voor de vaste rijders.

    Is net als testcoureur een functie die niet meer per se vervuld hoeft te worden.
    En als het echt nodig is, dan is er vast wel iemand die een race weekend kan invallen.

    Het hebben van een testrijder heeft tegenwoordig ook geen nut meer natuurlijk. In de jaren 90 en begin 2000 had het nog nut toen er wekelijks getest werd door de grote teams. Tegenwoordig doen ze weinig meer dan rijden in de simulator. Die paar echte testdagen per jaar kun je beter door de racecoureurs laten doen lijkt me.

    Als er een noodgeval is dan is er altijd wel ergens een coureur met superlicentie beschikbaar die een race in wil vallen.
