Partijen praten in Milaan verder over toekomst F1

De belangrijkste stakeholders uit de Formule 1 komen vandaag in Milaan bij het hoofdkwartier van Pirelli bijeen om de toekomst van de sport verder te bespreken. Officieel gaat de vergadering alleen over de banden voor 2017 en daarna, maar alle partijen zullen ook van de gelegenheid gebruikmaken om de dialoog over de reglementen te vervolgen.

Afgelopen vrijdag was in een vergaderzaal bij het vliegveld van Heathrow al een bijeenkomst, maar die wierp weinig vruchten af. De teams konden het niet eens worden over de regels voor de toekomst van de Formule 1. De deadline van 1 maart nadert. Na die datum is het alleen nog mogelijk om via unanieme goedkeuring regels aan te voeren of te wijzigen. Tot die tijd is een meerderheid van de stemmen genoeg.

Met na vandaag nog één vergadering, namelijk tijdens de eerste testweek in Barcelona, begint de tijd te dringen. Bernie Ecclestone namens FOM en Jean Todt van de internationale autosportbond FIA zijn vandaag in Milaan aanwezig, zoals ook coureurs als Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel en Felipe Massa de uitnodiging van Pirelli geaccepteerd hebben, zo meldt Omnicorse.

Ondanks dat de oorspronkelijke plannen - veel agressiever uitziende auto's die 5 seconden sneller zijn - alweer iets zijn verwaterd, zullen het nog steeds de grootste chassisveranderingen sinds 2009 betekenen. En inmiddels hebben de teams veel meer windtunnel en CFD restricties.
