Honda heeft geen behoefte aan hulp van buitenaf

Honda stelt hulp van buitenaf bij het Formule 1-project niet op prijs. Dat legde motorsportbaas Yasuhisa Arai uit om het moeizaam verlopen seizoen 2015 te verklaren. Partner McLaren drong er bij Honda op aan om externe expertise in te schakelen, maar de Japanse autofabrikant wilde daar niks van weten.

Arai zegt in de Nikkei Asian Review: "We discussiëren uitvoerig met McLaren over onze problemen, totdat we op één lijn zitten. Ergens in de zomer vroegen ze ons of we voldoende middelen hebben en wilden ze weten waarom we alles exclusief zelf wilden doen. Ze vroegen ons ook om hulp van buitenaf te overwegen, wat vanuit hun perspectief een natuurlijk gegeven is gezien de mobiliteit van arbeiders in Europa."

"We hebben uitgelegd dat Honda er een andere filosofie op nahoudt. Het is belangrijk om onze manschappen te koesteren en op te voeden. Het is voor ons onacceptabel om een engineer van buitenaf voor drie maanden of een half jaar op de werkvloer toe te laten."

      Ben ik niet helemaal met je eens. In dit artikel zijn al een aantal zaken af te leiden, zoals
      er is wel fatsoenlijke communicatie tussen motorleverancier en team, daarnaast hebben de Japanners een totaal andere bedrijfscultuur dan de Fransen.

      Met name dat laatste is het inderdaad. Voor ons westerlingen klinkt het wellicht enigsinds arrogant, maar zo zal Honda dat niet bedoelen. Het is vooral eek kwestie van oosterse trots. Gewoon een andere filosofie/mentaliteit en een ander perspectief. Waardeer ik eigenlijk ook wel weer van Honda.

      Klopt wel, maar feit blijft dat ze door trots (binnen welke cultuur ook) hulp afwijzen, zal komend seizoen blijken of dat slim is.

    Mario Ilien heeft met Ilmor wel een uitstekend alternatief achter de hand wat aanvankelijk zelfs in Japan stiekum tot verkennende gesprekken leidde maar RB stak daar een stokje voor door te stellen dat het, door hen betaalde ontwerp, niet aan twee teams geleverd kon worden. Hetgeen bij Horner voor een glimlach zorgde en bij Dennis tot ingeslikte woede.
    En Alonso?
    Die bleek ergens met een klapstoeltje op de bergketens bij Fukushima te zitten. Volgens sommigen met ruim 35 miljoen in een koffer. Volgens anderen met net iets minder. Hij was telefonisch niet bereikbaar al kan dat ook aan het slechte bereik gelegen hebben.

    Even off topic:
    vorig jaar herinner ik me zo'n overzichtslijstje met de data vd presentaties per team. Was een heel handig spiekbriefje.
    Ik zou graag dit jaar weer zo'n lijstje zien op de home pagina, rechts in beeld.

    Dit had men bij McLaren vooraf allang kunnen weten. Japan is een gesloten veste qua business en arbeid.

      Onzin. Honda is gewoon een globale speler en alle globale spelers zijn actief in Japan. Dus waar heb je het precies over? Als Honda zo gesloten was hadden ze wel in hun eentje een F1-project gedaan en anders niet.

    Goede zaak. Dat paniek gedoe gaat werkelijk nergens over. Honda moest 12 voordat ze planden in te stappen opeens instappen. Dit betekent dus logischerwijs dat je met een product zit dat niet af is en de doorontwikkeling loopt ook vertraging op.

    Dat geluk over dat Honda gesloten zou zijn oid is onzin. Ze maken over de hele wereld auto's en in de autosport hebben ze ook samengewerkt met bijv. Ilmore. Heck, ze werken nu samen met McLaren. En het is niet zo dat ze bij Honda alleen maar Japanners hebben rondlopen natuurlijk.
