Horner: "Aanbod Pirelli commercieel en praktisch aantrekkelijk"

Pirelli lijkt hard op weg om vanaf 2011 de nieuwe bandenleverancier in de Formule 1 te zijn. Motorsportbaas Paul Hembery reisde naar Canada om een formeel contract op te stellen. Pirelli is de wens van de teams en Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner gaf aan te hopen dat de internationale autosportbond FIA en commerciële rechtenhouder FOM daarmee akkoord gaan.

Hopelijk bereiken we consensus over de nieuwe bandenleverancier. Voor ons als onafhankelijk team is belangrijk dat de kosten onder controle blijven. Ideaal gezien gaan we door met één bandenleverancier. Het aanbod van Pirelli lijkt commercieel en praktisch gezien zeer aantrekkelijk en het merendeel van de teams is het daar mee eens. Maar het is van belang dat de FIA en de FOM akkoord gaan met de betreffende fabrikant, aldus Horner.
