'Hamilton heeft zeker nog zeven jaar F1 in zich'

Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton kan de komende tien jaar de lakens uitdelen in de Formule 1. Dat zegt zijn vader Anthony tegenover Sky Sports. Lewis Hamilton pakte de afgelopen twee jaar de wereldtitel. Hoewel hij in januari de leeftijd van 31 jaar bereikte en hij zelf heeft gezegd rond zijn 37ste te willen stoppen, ziet Anthony Hamilton zijn zoon nog een decennium heersen.

"Hij wordt alleen maar beter en sterker", begint vader Hamilton. "Hij heeft nog zeker zeven tot tien jaar Formule 1 in zich. Lewis is nog altijd extreem competitief. Hij is jong en heeft nog wel wat jaartjes voor de boeg." Toch liggen er voor Lewis Hamilton vele verleidingen op de loer. De Brit heeft nogal wat hobby's buiten de Formule 1, waarvan zijn passie voor muziek de bekendste is.

Zijn vader denkt niet dat hij daardoor eerder stopt met racen. "Zeg nooit nooit, maar ik geloof van niet. Lewis is een competitief persoon, hij houdt van autosport en hij houdt van winnen. Zolang hij die geestdrift heeft, blijft hij actief als coureur. Nogmaals, hij heeft nog minstens zeven jaar Formule 1 in zich. En dat is slecht nieuws voor de rest van de rijders."

    Niks mis met trots zijn op je zoon.
    Maar verder niets inhoudelijk wat een compleet artikel rechtvaardigd....

    Om zijn huidige levensstyl te kunnen behouden, denk ik dat hij inderdaad nog wel enkele jaren F1 op hoog niveau zal moeten blijven rijden. De wereld rond reizen in een privé jet is niet gratis.

      Met een commerciële vlucht ook niet hoor. Hoe dan ook, hij is al lang binnen, daarvoor hoeft hij niet nog jaren door te gaan.

    Volgens mij vergeet zijn vader een bepaalde knaap uit Nederland :-)
    Hamilton is goed maar ik ben benieuwd als VES in hetzelfde team zou rijden of hij dan nog WK wordt. Misschien het eerste jaar nog maar daarna....

    Ik denk dat zo gouw het tegen zit Hamilton de F1 zal verlaten. Als hij niet voor de titel kan gaan zal zijn motivatie ook verdwenen zijn.

    Lewis gaat echt niet nog zeven titels scoren hoor. Als Vettel een goede auto heeft, dan gaat die voor de titel. Verder komt Max er aan en die zal normaliter binnen nu en zeven jaar ook een gooi naar de titel doen. Mocht Honda haar zaakjes voor mekaar krijgen, dan zie ik zelfs Alonso nog wel roet in Lewis' eten gooien.

    IK denk dat Hamilton nog max 2 titels binnen kan halen als zijn auto goed blijft. Mercedes zal ook ooit een mindere tijd kennen. Dat is nu eenmaal F1.
