Volvo Trucks leverancier van team van McLaren

McLaren-Honda bundelt de krachten met Volvo Trucks. Beide partijen hebben een vierjarige overeenkomst gesloten. Volvo Trucks levert 24 vrachtwagens voor het transport van het materiaal van McLaren naar de Europese Formule 1-races.

McLaren Group-directeur Jonathan Neale: "Naast een continue zoektocht naar verbeteringen voor de efficiëntie op de baan, zijn we ook naast de circuits op zoek om onze efficiëntie te verbeteren. Daarom zijn we trots op de samenwerking met een prestigieus merk als Volvo Trucks."

"Volvo Trucks staat bekend om de innovatieve oplossingen en hoogwaardige kwaliteit. Het managen van de vracht en logistiek is een op zich staande uitdaging voor elk Formule 1-team. Een efficiënt, betrouwbaar en veilig transport van en naar de Europese Grands Prix is geen gegeven. Gelukkig hebben we in Volvo Trucks de perfecte partner gevonden."

      Niet verdeeld over de continenten, er staat Europa in het artikel.

      De motorhomes zijn gigantisch, zou me niets verbazen als enkel daarvoor al 4 tot 6 trucks worden gebruikt. Per gp-auto nog een truck, en dan hebben ze alle zooi van de pitboxes nog om te verslepen.

      Denk dat ze er toch wel een stuk of 12 a 16 permanent in gebruik hebben tijdens de Europese races. De rest is wellicht ook voor bij de fabrieken o.i.d.?

      De topteams hebben 3 motorhome's. Als er 2 weken achter elkaar een race is staat er 1 setje op het circuit en is het volgende setje al onderweg naar het volgende circuit. Verder is er ook nog een demo team en is er een vrachtwagen nodig om op vrijdagmiddag fish & chips te halen.

      24 trucks lijkt mij niet echt overdreven gezien waar ze allemaal zeer kort opeen gaan racen, als je maar 1 weekje hebt tot de volgende race dan ben je blij dat je over zulk armada bechikt

      Is er geen ander team dan dat ook al met Volvo trucks rijdt?

      Die zouden dan, puur voor de vorm, exclusiviteit moeten opeisen.
      Het team van Ron Dennis kan geen Volvo krijgen!
      Want Volvo heeft het al druk genoeg met het ontwikkelen van vrachtwagens voor hun eigen team. Of zo.
