Matsushita als testrijder aan de slag bij McLaren

Nobuharu Matsushita is door McLaren-Honda aangesteld als test- en ontwikkelingscoureur. De Japanner rijdt daarnaast voor ART Grand Prix in de GP2 dit seizoen, net als afgelopen jaar. Matsushita is een protegé van Honda en met dit dienstverband verstevigt de Japanse autofabrikant de band met McLaren. De Britse renstal zal Matsushita vooral in de simulator inzetten.

"Ik ben door het dolle heen dat ik me als test- en ontwikkelingsrijder bij McLaren mag voegen", begint Matsushita. "Ik stap de wereld van de Formule 1 in en daarmee gaat een wens in vervulling. Ik ga mijn best doen om het team op de circuits te helpen en om via simulator-werk data te vergaren en feedback te geven waar het team voor de ontwikkeling en afstelling wat aan heeft."

"De GP2 bood mij vorig jaar een steile leercurve. Het was het eerste jaar dat ik in Europa racete, maar gelukkig was ik door het opleidingsprogramma van Honda goed voorbereid. Als GP2-coureur is de titel mijn enige doel voor 2016. Ik geloof dat ik het beste pakket om me heen verzameld heb om te slagen en om mijn doel om uit te groeien tot Formule 1-coureur te verwezenlijken."

Dankzij Honda,maar ook al wordt hij kampioen in de GP2 denk ik niet dat hij verder komt bij Mc Laren.
