"Afwezigheid moest Hockenheim wakker schudden"

Formule 1-baas Bernie Ecclestone wilde de organisatie van de Grand Prix van Duitsland wakker schudden nadat daar het afgelopen jaar niet is geracet. Dat zei hij tegen het Duitse Handelsblatt.

Het contract van Hockenheim staat nog voor 2016 en 2018 gepland, maar volgens Ecclestone ziet het er verder niet goed uit. “Als ik het vergelijk met andere plaatsen waar we racen, loopt Hockenheim zo’n twintig jaar achter." Ecclestone ziet verder de Nurburgring niet snel van hun problemen afkomen waardoor het nog maar de vraag is of er Grand Prix van Duitsland nog toekomst heeft.

De Brit wil op nieuwe locaties gaan racen waardoor er een aantal huidige gaan verdwijnen. “Ik wil graag een race in Afrika, ergens waar we nog niet zijn geweest. Daarvoor zijn we al in gesprek. En wellicht nog een extra in de Verenigde Staten.”

Met een veld van slechts 4 Duitsers, 1 Nederlander en het team van Mercedes is er ook helemaal geen reden om in Duitsland te rijden..
Tevens leeft F1 ook helemaal niet in Duitsland dit leeft in Afrika veel meer!
Ook heeft Duitsland natuurlijk helemaal geen F1 historie..

    Dat je nog een race in de VS wil is ook niet zo vreemd Bernie, maar misschien moet je dan niet naar Azerbaycan gaan, zodat je wel in Duitsland kan blijven? Zo had je ook ooit het goede idee om in Zuid-Korea te gaan racen bijvoorbeeld. Heeft zowel de F1 als Zuid-Korea veel gebracht inderdaad!

    Was het maar waar dat de Hockenheimring 20 jaar achterliep. Dan hadden we tenminste nog het oude circuit.

      Ecclestone heeft het geld ook niet voor dat soort fratsen. Zijn toko verdient jaarlijks maar $650 miljoen. Het is dan toch pure noodzaak om alleen naar circuits te gaan waar dictatoren het voor het zeggen hebben die wel makkelijk honderden miljoenen neerlegen om een F1 race in hun achtertuin te mogen organisern.

    Hoe bestaat het?! Met zo'n grote 'Duitse inbreng' in de sport, ongeacht of je nu fan van een Duitse rijder/Mercedes bent of niet. Ik vind dat er echt minimaal één keer per jaar een GP in Duitsland moet zijn. En voor ons Nederlanders natuurlijk samen met Spa het dichtst bij de deur.

    tegen de eigenaren van de Ring heeft Bernie een persoonlijke aversie, nadat zij het circuit voor zn neus wegkaapten toen dat te koop stond.

    Was hockenheim maar 20 jaar achter, dan hadden ze dat prachtige stuk door het bos nog gehad, en voor de teams de uitdaging om dat hogesnelheids stuk te combineren met de lage snelheidbochten in het autodrome...

    Als Hockenheim nou niet helemaal leeg gezogen zou worden voor het organiseren van zo'n race, dan zouden ze ook nog wat over kunnen houden om te investeren in het circuit zelf.
