Wolff doet laatste Williams-aandelen van de hand

Toto Wolff heeft geen connectie meer met het team van Williams. De motorsportdirecteur van Mercedes had nog wat aandelen in de Britse renstal in bezit, een overblijfsel uit het verleden. Die laatste paar aandelen, minder dan 5 procent, zijn nu verkocht aan Brad Hollinger, die nu 15 procent van de aandelen in Williams beheert.

Wolff werd in 2009 aandeelhouder van Williams. Sinds hij bij Mercedes instapte is hij zijn betrokkenheid bij het Britse teams steeds verder af gaan bouwen. Wolff: "Het verbaast me hoe emotioneel de dag waarop ik de financiële banden met de renstal van Sir Frank Williams doorsnij me maakt. Ik stapte als investeerder in, maar ik ging al snel een meer actieve rol bekleden."

"Ik heb geholpen bij de herstructurering van dit geweldige Formule 1-team. Ik ben trots op het feit dat ik deze sport binnen ben geslopen bij een organisatie die doordrenkt is van gepassioneerde racers. We moesten de juiste beslissingen nemen voor de toekomst van de renstal en haar werknemers. Ik heb harde lessen geleerd bij Williams, maar dat was wel heel waardevol om dit wereldje te leren kennen."
