Tijd dringt voor beslissing over 'halo' voor 2017

De internationale autosportbond FIA wil binnen enkele maanden uitsluitsel geven over de introductie van de zogenaamde 'halo' volgend jaar. Ferrari testte in Barcelona kortstondig met het systeem om de hoofden van de rijders te beschermen. De federatie zou het concept graag verplicht maken voor 2017, maar de tijd begint te dringen.

Laurent Mekies, bij de FIA verantwoordelijk voor de veiligheid van de autosport, zegt in AUTO: "We pushen hard om het zo spoedig mogelijk te integreren. De tests geven het startsein voor verdere studies naar het zicht, het bevrijden van een rijder uit de auto in noodgevallen en andere aspecten. Ik verwacht meer tests ter validatie in de komende zes maanden. We proberen allemaal om de cut te halen."

"De ware deadline ligt verscholen in de tijd die teams nodig hebben om hun auto's nog te modificeren en onze mogelijkheden om alle verwante kwesties juist in te schatten. In de Formule 1 ontwerpt men ver vooruit, dus als we iets willen doen voor 2017 moeten we binnen enkele maanden beslissen. Niemand wil het overhaasten, maar de klokt tikt."

    not F1 worthy.
    It has, it needs, to be a bit dangerous.
    Otherwise we end up with Le Man like cars.

    I say. No, don't overdo it.
    It's F1.
    If you think its to dangerous, well then, try your luck in America, Touring cars or what ever.

    Stop met pushen en neem de tijd voor goed onderzoek om alle alternatieven die langsgekomen en niet langsgekomen zijn naast elkaar te leggen. Haast is een slechte raadgever...

    Stel het maar lekker uit, het liefst zo lang mogelijk! Niet dat ik tegen hoofdbescherming in z'n algemeen ben maar "Halo" is zo'n halve oplossing. Het is ook nog eens een "oplossing" waarvan ik eerlijk gezegd niet zeker ben of het eigenlijk wel zo'n groot probleem is als sommige claimen.

    Niet overhaasten, zorgen dat het een goede toevoeging is voor de veiligheid
    Als het ervan komt vind ik het prima, zo niet ook goed.
    Maar wanneer er een besluit is genomen om het niet te doen is het natuurlijk wachten op het volgende noodlottige ongeluk, maar dan halen we onze schouders op, en zeggen we "jammer, maar dat hoort bij de sport".

      Niet overhaasten zo luidt mijn devies, leg het onder het hoofdkussen dan kijken we er nog eens naar volgend jaar of het jaar erop, maar ook dan moeten we niets overhaasten.

    alleen al het feit dat er geen mooie plaatjes meer geschoten kunnen worden van de coureur in de cockpit...die HALO zit er steeds tussen. Wat mij betreft afschieten dit idee en er voor zorgen dat banden/wielen niet meer losgerukt worden bij een crash zodat ze projectielen worden. Kijk eens naar de motorsport: is 10x gevaarlijker dan Formule 1 maar daar kunnen nou eenmaal niet van dit soort kunstgrepen uitgehaald worden..gaan we die sport verbieden dan? Kom op zeg.

      In principe zitten de ophanging en banden tegenwoordig al met staalkabel vast. Dus als er een wiel los raakt moet dat wel een pitstop fout zijn. Unsafe Release mag dan wel zwaarder gelden.

      Motorsport is anders, het komt zelden voor dat een coureur op zijn motor zit, en recht in de vangrail beland.
      De coureur valt van zijn motor, en glijd dan vervolgens over het asfalt in de grindbak, de motor gaat zijn eigen weg.
      Als een motor coureur valt is dat meestal in een bocht, of bij het uitkomen van een bocht, en dan ligt de snelheid relatief nog laag.
      Als je met een auto een crash hebt, ben je als coureur machteloos over het verdere vervolg, je bent simpelweg passagier van het voertuig geworden.
      Motor coureurs breken wel veel vaker iets, dat dan weer wel.

    Weer zo'n ding wat tegen de zin van fans en ondoordacht en maar half klaar er doorheen gedouwt wordt.

    We wisten het al, maar F1 is onder leiding van Todt de weg totaal kwijt.
    Wat is F1 in 10 jaar tijd toch enorm in het nadeel veranderd !
