Vettel weinig wijzer na natte dag in Melbourne

Ferrari-coureur Sebastian Vettel is op de eerste dag van de Australische Grand Prix weinig tot niets te weten gekomen over hoe de zaken ervoor staan. Het weer was spelbreker in Melbourne. Regenbuien volgden elkaar op en er stond een harde wind. De meeste teams en coureurs besloten om het lot niet te tarten en deden het rustig aan. Zo ook Vettel.

De Duitser zei na afloop: "Dit is niet ideaal, maar wat doe je eraan? Uiteindelijk zitten we met zijn allen in hetzelfde schuitje. Het was fijn om in elk geval een gevoel met de auto op te doen, maar wat betreft de voorbereiding op de rest van het weekend en de race zijn we weinig wijzer geworden. Soms is het niet anders. Ze voorspelden eerst zelfs de hele dag regen. Het kwam nu in buien, maar dat was genoeg om steeds delen van het circuit nat te maken."

Vettel weet wel hoe hij morgen de eerste kwalificatie onder het nieuwe format aan gaat pakken. "We hebben wel een idee, maar we moeten natuurlijk ook kijken hoe het zich ontvouwt en daar weer op anticiperen. Het is voor iedereen nieuw. In theorie kan je nog zoveel verzinnen, maar in de praktijk kan het heel anders uitpakken."
