'F1 heeft gedoe met kwalificatie niet handig aangepakt'

De Formule 1 heeft de plank aardig misgeslagen met het kwalificatieformat. Dat oordeel velt Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner. Een paar weken voor de seizoensopener in Australië drukte de FIA er een nieuw eliminatiesysteem voor de kwalificatie doorheen om de spanning en het spektakel te vergroten, maar dat bleek een forse misvatting. In Bahrein keert men waarschijnlijk terug naar het oude format. De World Motor Sport Council moet het alleen nog goedkeuren.

Horner verwonderde zich de voorbije weken en afgelopen weekend in toenemende mate over het gedoe rondom de kwalificatie. "We hebben dat met zijn allen niet handig aangepakt. We hebben onszelf geen goed gedaan met dit gehannes. Het belangrijkste is om hiervan te leren. Elke wijziging moet goed doordacht zijn en bij het nieuwe kwalificatieformat hebben we niet goed stil gestaan bij alle consequenties. De bedoelingen waren goed, maar die kwamen er niet uit."

Williams stemde zondagochtend ook voor het in ere herstellen van het oude systeem, al denkt technisch directeur Pat Symonds er het zijne van. "De noodzaak om zondag al iets te beslissen was er niet. Als je al de naam hebt om overhaast beslissingen te nemen, dan moet je het vooral zo doen. Wij hebben voorgesteld om het eliminatiesysteem voor Q1 en Q2 in stand te houden en voor Q3 terug te keren naar het oude format. De meerderheid koos er echter voor om het weer helemaal om te gooien."

Je kunt wel 20 alternatieven bedenken voor een kwalificatie format, in alle gevallen staat uiteindelijk de snelste voor aan en de langzaamste achteraan. Als iemand een formaat bedenkt waar dat niet het geval bij is, kunnen we de kwalificatie ook niet doen en loten. Dat verhoogt het spektakel op z... [Lees verder]

als ze een knockout systeem willen dan moeten ze iedereen die na die anderhalve minuut nog bezig is hun ronde af laten maken, nadeel is dan dat de kwalificatie te lang gaat duren

Meer setjes banden was ook een optie geweest bij de nieuwe kwali.
Nu kon men niet buiten blijven en moesten ze banden sparen.

Mijn idee.. Gelijk na één poging afstappen van het vernieuwde systeem is kortzichtig , en Q 1 en 2 waren wel degelijk een verbetering...

Wat was er mis met het oude systeem ?
Als ze willen dat mercedes van de eerste rij verdwijnt dan moet de rest een snelere auto bouwen en niet een systeem gaan veranderen.
Het is heel simpel, de snelste begint vooraan en als je daarachter staat ben je te langzaam.

  De kwalificatie inkorten was ook goed geweest. Veel verkeer in korte tijd en maar weinig kans op een totaal vrije ronde. Heb je gewoon pech al er een Manor ook bezig is vlot te rijden.
  
  In dat licht bezien hadden ze een aantal korte kwalificaties moeten doen en de tijden optellen. Kunnen ze niet zeuren over langzamere deelnemers.

Dus heren (en dames) van de FIA, FOM, teams en wie er nog meer wat van mag vinden, laten we overgaan tot de orde van de dag en stoppen met dit geleuter.

Ik zie liever 4 ronden waarvan er 3 tellen en allemaal op zelfde setje banden.
Ik vond trouwens voor Q1 en Q2 het knockoutsystem wel werken dus van mij hadden ze in ieder geval dat gedeelte niet hoeven aan te passen.

Bovendien lijkt het me zuur voor de bedenkers als we direct terug gaan naar het oude systeem en het hele seizoen weer gaan rijden zoals het was.
Dus ik hoop toch wel dat er een soort middenweg wordt gevonden waarbij het knockout systeem deels behouden blijft.

Top 8 hoort gewoon 2 rondes minimaal te rijden en ze zouden dit ook moeten verplichten vind ik. Niks geen banden sparen gewoon gaan.

Het was niet leuk en ook niet bepaald spannend, in begin van Q1 en Q2 redelijk wat actie maar te vaak was afvaller al meer dan 1,5 minuut van te voren bekend. En over Q3 zullen we het maar helemaal niet hebben dat was echt om te janken......

Kortom ik vind het prima dat ze het z.s.m. dumpen.
