COTA bespaart 14 miljoen belasting door regeling

Het Circuit of the Americas nabij Austin kan dit seizoen en waarschijnlijk ook de komende jaren gewoon de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten organiseren. Dat was even twijfelachtig nadat de staat Texas de subsidie voor het evenement met 5 miljoen dollar verlaagde, maar door een regeling met de belastingdienst bespaart de baan ook enorm op de kosten.

The American Statesman bericht dat de waarde van het Circuit of the Americas naar beneden is bijgesteld, met meer dan 180 miljoen dollar. Met terugwerkende kracht hoeven ze daardoor veel minder belasting te betalen over de jaren 2013, 2014 en 2015. Normaal gesproken was de rekening voor COTA uitgekomen op een totaal van 21,7 miljoen dollar. Na de regeling met de belastingdienst bedroeg dat bedrag nog maar 7,4 miljoen dollar. Dat betekent een besparing van meer dan 14 miljoen dollar.

    Haha dat vind ik een goeie. Ze willen/mogen/kunnen niet te veel subsidie betalen, maar dan verlagen ze via de achterdeur de belasting. Resultaat de belastingbetaler betaald indirect nu nog meer geld mee aan het circuit (en dus met name aan de F1) dan voorheen!

      En wat denk je wat die mensen krijgen die als ze die soort regeltjes bedenken? Ik volg de amerikaanse politiek en economie intensief. De amerikaanse politiek is in en in corrupt, een bananenrepubliek is nog democratischer dan USofa.

      ze kregen minder subsidie omdat de staat vond dat het minder waard was.
      als dat zo is gaat ook de belasting omlaag

      Lijkt Nederland wel maar dan omgekeerd, in Nederland vind de overheid "jouw" eigen huis altijd veel MEER waard dan het markttechnisch is en daarover wordt de WOZ berekent. Dat is ook stelen.

      Maar goed we drijven af in een politiek moeras, terug naar de F1 :P

    Logisch, als COTA failliet gaat is het sowieso niks meer waard.
    Alleen al de dreiging dat de race niet door zou kunnen gaan deed de waarde van het circuit met vele miljoenen dalen.
    Self fulfilling prophecy.
