Gevechten uitgebroken in Azerbeidzjan, GP van Europa in gevaar?

Het Armeense ministerie van Defensie meldt dat er zware gevechten zijn uitgebroken in Nagorno-Karabach, een deel van Azerbeidzjan. Meerdere doden zijn bevestigd. 

Of dit heel veel betrekking gaat hebben tot de Grand Prix van Europa die dit jaar in Azerbeidzjan wordt gehouden, is nog niet zeker. Baku ligt namelijk aan de andere kant van het land. Als het conflict escaleert zou het mogelijk zijn dat de Grand Prix wordt afgelast. 

Nagorno-Karabach wordt sinds 1994 gecontroleerd door Armeense militairen en de lokale strijdkrachten toen er oorlog uitbrak in Armenië. De vele onderhandelingen tussen de twee partijen hebben vrij weinig uitgehaald.

Het is nog wachten op een reactie van de FIA.

      ga maar`s googlelen. Daar zijn de verschrikkelijkste dingen gebeurd. Massa moorden, etnische deportaties. En dat is al meer dan 30 jaar aan de gang. Walgelijk gewoon, dus wat doen we? lekker racen daar want het levert geld op toch? belachelijk.

    Money rules. Dan maakt het dus geen reet uit, ook al racen we in foute landen. Wat dat betreft is de FIA net zo hypocriet als de meeste westerse sportbonden en regeringen.

    Aangezien ik het sowieso onzin vind om een race in Azerbeidzjan te houden, hoop ik dat ze hem cancelen. De reden is alleen niet zo leuk.

    De echte wereld gaat toch helemaal aan de hoge heren van de FIA voorbij...
    Schurken staten met corruptie, geweld en onmenselijke praktijken hebben kennelijk geld.
    En dat is momenteel alles dat telt.
    Ik heb sowieso geen idee wat de F1 in Baku te zoeken heeft?
    Ik wist (als Europeaan met een redelijke kennis van topografie en geschiedenis) niet eens dat dit bij Europa hoort!
