'Het is te laat om revolutie voor 2017 af te blazen'

Hoewel de stemming in de paddock steeds terughoudender is wat betreft de radicale nieuwe regels voor volgend jaar, is er nu geen weg meer terug voor de Formule 1. Dat stelt Franz Tost, teambaas van Scuderia Toro Rosso, een van de weinige teams die nog voorstander is van een revolutie in 2017. "Het is te laat om het nog af te blazen, de blauwdruk voor de auto ligt er al."

Aan de hand daarvan zijn de teams alvast voorzichtig begonnen met de voorbereidingen op het nieuwe seizoen, al hanteert de internationale autosportbond FIA een deadline van 30 april voor de reglementen voor 2017. Christian Horner van Red Bull Racing: "Het gaat niet zo ver als we graag gewild hadden, het is een compromis geworden. Hoe dan ook, het is beter dan stil staan."

Claire Williams, vice-teambaas bij Williams, tot slot: "Er staat een vergadering van de Strategy Group gepland en zoals we gewend zijn van de Formule 1 zijn de dingen nog vloeibaar. Hopelijk komen we eruit wat betreft de regels voor 2017. Ik denk niet dat de Strategy Group de ideeën zal verwerpen, daar is het nu te laat voor. We moeten nu knopen doorhakken als we op tijd klaar willen zijn voor het nieuwe seizoen."

      Ja Jean, ik heb op een engelse site al een interview met Todt gelezen, die al het een en ander uitlegt. Het zal wel iets beter worden, maar of het doel bereikt word, is de grote vraag.

      Het is echt alsof alle vermiste dorpsgekken terug te vinden zijn in de top van de Formule 1. Wat een amateurs runnen deze "sport" zeg.

      Ja tuurlijk RedBull wilde zijn Aero voordeel weer terug dus het voorstel wat hun op tafel had gelegd had echt extreme downforce wat het racen niet ten goede komt, het uiteindelijk het voorstel van Mclaren geworden.

      Ja Todt en Bernie. Vooral niet naar de teams en de coureurs luisteren die betere ideeën hebben om de sport aantrekkelijker te maken. Hier worden beslissingen genomen door mensen die aan de touwtjes willen blijven trekken om hun ego in takt te houden.

      @Brommer, ja aan de ene kant komt er meer mechanische grip maar aan de andere kant blijft ook de aerodynamica een grote rol spelen. Volgens Jean Todt kunnen de auto's dan toch slipstreamen, maar dat moet ik eerst zien voor ik het geloof.

    Ik zeg....vooral doorgaan. Prachtig om weer bredere banden, lagere en bredere achtervleugels etc te zien. Iets kleinere wielbasis maakt het af

    Bij een flinke verandering worden de kaarten weer geschud, dat lijkt me wel weer leuk. Ongetwijfeld zal er weer flink gemopperd worden maar wel weer de kans om een andere volgorde in t veld te krijgen.

      Ja, en dat is precies waarom Mercedes het liefst zo weinig mogelijk verandert; alsmede eens te meer een dikke vette onderstreping van wat er mis is met de besluitvorming in de huidige F1.

      Op papier is de FIA de zogenaamde regelgever, maar in de praktijk zijn het vooral de teams die de regels bepalen.

      Ik denk echt dat er nog meer getest moet worden met de halo, en dat de F1 meer steun bij teams/rijders/fans hiervoor moet kweken, voordat het ingevoerd wordt. De F1 kan zich de komende jaren niet nog meer blunders permitteren.

    De een hoopt op verandering en de ander wil deze niet, in de F1 is alles mogelijk en men handeld alleen uit eigenbelang bij de teams. Ik ben benieuwt wat er gaat komen van hun ideeën, maar sta er niet van te kijken als er geen ruk veranderd.

    Het is logisch dat teams die het nu goed doen zo min mogelijk verandering willen, zodat ze de voorsprong kunnen behouden op de rest.
    De kans bestaat immers dat er een nieuwe Brawn auto ontstaat uit het niets, die het eerste jaar niet te kloppen is.
    Er is altijd een team die de nieuwe regels het beste onder de knie heeft, als hebben de grootste teams het meeste budget, wil het niet zeggen dat ze de beste ideeën hebben.
    Het Zou bijvoorbeeld Toro Rosso goed uitkomen als de regels drastisch wijzigen.

    Het zou mooi zijn als het profiel van de huidige F1 wagen weer wat lager en breder werd, banden wat breder, laat maar komen die aanpassingen.
